Sensational clickbait headline,.stop posting nonsense

The only way that remotely happens is if the dems take congress in 2026 and impeach and remove him (they'd probably have to get vance too). Which seems highly unlikely and has a high risk of another jan 6 like event.

I'd like to believe it, really, but there is no way that he ever sees justice for his crimes. He'll die of a cheeseburger-related heart attack before that happens.

I'll believe it, when I see it.

For the past 8 years they've been saying he "may" do this, or he "may" get punished for that, and everyone twiddled their thumbs until morons elected him into office again, making it all impossible again

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 19 points 1 week ago

Sounds good. But until he is marched into prison in a orange jumpsuit I’m not celebrating.

[–] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 18 points 1 week ago

In and ideal world, sure.

But this article and the people who published it are deeply unserious.

Can we please keep depressing American politics out of "uplifting news"? I'm not subscribed to this community to see "Hitler definitely getting in biiiiig trouble" for the twenty seventh time.

Bit hard to be a legal expert from a foreign prison.

:(

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Right, bcz this guy has faced so many consequences already...I'll believe it when I see it.

[–] roserose56@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

As I said in the other post ping me if this happens.

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago

Seriously, I'd bet for a heart attack to get rid of him sooner.

He figured out he can just pardon himself. He doesn't care how corrupt and amoral this makes him look. Shame is a distant, foreign concept to him.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can't pardon yourself from a bullet...

Using Trump logic, the next president could still deport him to a foreign prison. If the supreme Court says, "You can't do that.", the president can say there's nothing they can do to get him back now.

Why are you assuming that there will be a next president while he's still alive (not a call to violence)

Wow, what a "cool" "article"

But what's up with open quotation without the closing one? I clicked the title to see if there was more to it, but it's the same. Like wtf.

[–] mutual_ayed@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

Any minute now. We swear. There's Habeus Corpus, don't worry......

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The only real chance is with state charges. POTUS cannot pardon state or civil offenses.

Leticia James has been investigating the allegations of market manipulation, but that’s the only potential state case of which I’m aware.

Oh, just stop already. It’s not happening. Ever!

[–] mrslt@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I'll believe it when I see it.

[–] riplin@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

I subscribed to uplifting news to escape this idiot. Can’t go anywhere without seeing that stupid orange face.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Those legal experts don’t live on this planet

[–] Phegan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Things that won't come true after seeing them of the 272,121st time.

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Haven't we been seeing these headlines for the best part of a decade now?

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 2 points 1 week ago

I will simply reuse my statement from the last time any sort of "consequences" were in the news:

I'm basing my conclusions on precedent, rather than wishful thinking. Hence, I will continue to assume Trump will get away with everything forever until proven otherwise.
