Not gonna read this, if Trump was ever going to face consequences, it would have happened by now. The rapist is gonna die peacefully in his sleep eventually. There is no god.

[–] Scotty_Trees@lemmy.world 40 points 6 days ago

Can I downvote this any harder? We've been hearing "prison time" for years, just dangling a carrot. I'm not even going to bother reading this.

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 33 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Trust me bro, just one more lawsuit and the Nazis are gone.

[–] Retrograde@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Ya bro trust me this lawsuit will totally get him, promise

Some people commit a felony and get punished for four years or more, Trump commits 34 felonies and we get punished for four years (or more)

Stfu click bait. Why would he suddenly start experiencing consequences?

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 30 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Lol

Lmao

Nothing will meaningfully improve until the rich fear for their lives

Give me a fucking break. If that cunt meets justice, it’ll happen on the street.

Anyone that actually tries to sentence him will end up on an ice plane to El Salvador.

[–] PunksAlwaysWin@lemmy.world 30 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Everyone who still reads articles that say 'blah blah looking at, blah blah might be" and gets hopeful are morons. He will keep getting away with whatever he wants. These articles have been happening for 10 years now and nothing EVER HAPPENS.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 20 points 6 days ago (2 children)

the only way trump will ever see justice is if he gets Luigied.

K. Let me know when it happens. I'll believe it then. I'll just keep hoping until then.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

Absolute hopium.

If that dude faced consequences I will eat my hat

[–] sexual_tomato@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 5 days ago

I'll say what I've been saying for 9 years: I'll believe it when I see it.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago

He's been facing prison for years already, yet here we are

[–] scbasteve7@lemm.ee 11 points 5 days ago

He may be doing illegal shit that people want to put a stop to, but half the government backs him completely, and blindly. And the other half is a bunch of spineless pussies who care more about their donors and their own optics than bettering the country. Nobody is gonna do anything about it

[–] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

LOL
I've been hearing that since Trump 1.
Any day now.

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 16 points 5 days ago

I seriously, seriously doubt it. As much as the insiders all hate trump with an absolute vengeance, he is too goddamn useful for them to want to get rid of him.

Trump is a symptom of a much, much larger systemic issue that has been on slow burn for decades, but the thing that Trump does that no one else can do is have such a massive fanatical fanbase. They do not have any other person who can rile people up while also being an absolute moron who insults them at every turn and treats them worse than whatever shit he has them lick off his shoes.

If the bullet fired at him last year had hit him between the eyes and killed him before he hit the ground, it would not solve the problem, but it would have abso-fucking-lutely had a massive effect on everything. It would have hindered their ability to go forward with a lot of shit since his fanbase would have been heavily divided. Trump's attribute is that he is the glue that keeps their movement together, but not the actual mover of that movement. Trump doesn't have beliefs. He does not give a fuck about anything other than himself. He does not care about his children, grandchildren, wife, ex-wives/mistresses, his country, his friends (whom he does not have). He does not care at all about anything other than self-aggrandizement, enriching himself, and staying out of prison/legal punishment for his countless misdeeds.

A mountain of felonies, millions of civil rights violations, violent insurrection, and not only is he not currently in prison for his crimes…

[–] LoveSausage@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 5 days ago

The Holocaust was legal

[–] lennyuncle@sh.itjust.works 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm on this poll for positive news. All I see is this political shit. No matter right or left or communists - I'm sick of all of it.

[–] silasmariner@programming.dev 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah I agree 100% with this sentiment. Every so often - say, every 20 posts or so - there's something that's actually uplifting. But most of it is just political wank, as you say. Or one was 'Israel finally allows some food into Gaza' which tbqh I don't find uplifting so much as absolutely sickening because it reminds me of how absolutely awful the context for it is.

Still, not gonna unsub because Lemmy is too small for me to be that picky 😅

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Honestly, i get your point. But it is really easy to be the change you want to see and make a commubuty that does not allow polulitics and just crosspost what you think fits. People will likely enjoy that kind of content. You have one subscriber in me already if you make it.

Any day now....

[–] beliquititious@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (5 children)

The only way that remotely happens is if the dems take congress in 2026 and impeach and remove him (they'd probably have to get vance too). Which seems highly unlikely and has a high risk of another jan 6 like event.

I'd like to believe it, really, but there is no way that he ever sees justice for his crimes. He'll die of a cheeseburger-related heart attack before that happens.

[–] hexonxonx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I find it odd that anyone thinks there's going to be (fair) elections. The Democrats (or any party other than MAGA Republicans) are never going to be in power again, ever.

Too any rich and powerful people will end up in prison if that happened, and right now they're the ones writing (and rewriting) the rules and breaking the things they can't control.

It's going on in front of everyone's eyes and the consequences are just being ignored by most. It's mindboggling.

Obviously thats bullshit but elect me president and I will absolutely rid this country of Nazis and christofascists and imprison the fuck out of anyone who accepts ANY donations or gifts of ANY kind

[–] OmegaLemmy@discuss.online 11 points 5 days ago

He is literally a criminal already, if he's not in jail now he will never be unless democrats act or he is shunned from republican party

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

Trump will die a free man, sadly. The justice system has already made up it's mind and nothing he does will ever be punished, no matter what.

Now, how he dies is still up in the air. I think the odds are already not in his favor to have a peaceful death in his sleep. The best he can hope for is a disease taking him out at this point.

Should have gone to jail a long ass time ago...

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 19 points 6 days ago

Sounds good. But until he is marched into prison in a orange jumpsuit I’m not celebrating.

[–] madame_gaymes@programming.dev 16 points 6 days ago

Nothing involving trump's face is uplifting

[–] HelixDab2@lemm.ee 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Which "legal experts" are claiming Trump could be facing prison? If they actually have JDs, they should be disbarred for incompetence.

SCOTUS has already ruled on this; the president has very, very broad immunity from any criminal prosecution. The case was dropped in Florida because his stealing highly classified documents was an "official action"; if that can be handwaved away, then so can defrauding the country with a shitcoin pump-and-dump.

maybe you stop predicting and actually start doing instead of getting my hopes up all the time legal experts.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago

The legal experts are usually wrong. I'm interested to hear what the legal amateurs have to say.

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 5 points 5 days ago

Yeah sure. Been hearing it for the last decade.

[–] OccamsRazer@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Lol. Surely THIS time...

[–] usernameusername@lemm.ee 7 points 6 days ago

If you would please consult the graphs...

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 7 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Once he's out of politics, he is still on the hook for the Insurrection and the stolen documents. Those cases weren't thrown out, they just went dormant. They can be revived.

Also, he has immunity for "Official" presidential duties. For example, he can't be charged with murder because he greenlit a drone strike on a terrorist camp that also killed civilians. That would be considered within his official duties.

But he can't use his office to solicit bribes, perpetrate frauds, commit election fraud, etc. Those aren't part of his official duties, those are crimes, and he doesn't have immunity to commit crimes.

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

he doesn't have immunity to commit crimes.

Sadly, he apparently does

The only solution is a French style revolution

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Those walls have been closing in on Trump for 8 years now.
