did anyone get this version to run wayland desktop?
I READ THAT AS AMD INFIDELS tf is wrong with me
Intel and Nvidia are going on a Crusade lmao
Really glad to see the 80% charge limit for people like me who use their Deck primarily at home.
Can only number 80 be picked? I was hoping to be able to pick any number I want. between 50 and 60 is the best for my use case
It's a slider from 50% to 100%.
IIRC >80% is where you start to get battery degradation depending on the battery chemistry.
Going lower provides no benefit.
Source: my memory from a decade ago, don't take as fact.
See that's one thing I liked about Samsung when I had it, the model I had had a 80% cap, but it read like you were at 100%, there was understandably some backlash because consumers felt like they were being lied to, but it was genuinely in the interest of expanding consumers battery life, so... A white lie?
While it would expand battery life that doesn't mean their intent was genuine. Could be a concern about their phone's image: "100%" looks better than "80%". It sounds like the "you're too stupid to understand" route.
Well yes thats what I was saying, they made it look like 100% for image. But there's no reason for capping at 80 other than extending battery life
Yea they've changed it to show 80% now. At least on my device (fold 5).
Pixel has it now too
And LineageOS. Might just be a part of AOSP now.
woaa I was literally wondering if they could add that as a feature like 10 minutes ago! Yippee
Does this mean I can install SteamOS on any device?
We expect most SteamOS users to get SteamOS preinstalled on a Steam Deck or device that incorporates SteamOS. The only devices officially supported on SteamOS right now are Steam Deck and Legion Go S. We are working on broadening support, and with the recent updates to Steam and SteamOS, compatibility with other AMD powered PC handhelds has been improved. If you are interested in trying out SteamOS on your device and providing feedback, you can use the SteamOS Recovery Image
Users should not consider SteamOS as a replacement for their desktop operating system.
“support for all devices that is not officially ‘Powered by SteamOS’ is not final.”
Who does the copyreading before publication at Valve?
valve is such a damn great firm!!!
lord gaben giveth, never takes away.
Remember when Google was the "Don't be evil" company?
Valve existed at that point, too.
I sure hope he keeps his sanity and will have a worthy successor one day.
Honestly, Valve should just become a worker-owned co-op when Gabe is gone. They already have the culture for it with their "desks on wheels" structure, where employees can move around the company to whatever project they are most interested in/can use their skills the most. That's usually one of the biggest hurdles to a company succeeding as a co-op, and Valve has been running that way for years.
Potentially a collaboration/society of existing employees. That would be the best alternative for those hoping to keep Valve as the Valve we already know.
Because his son is completely uninterested, he's entirely focused on racing cars, which if fair enough, but likely means he would simply sell the company given the chance.
They should be training AI on Gaben so one day it can take over Valve.
Ew no! Please keep ai as far away from this company as possible.
I was able to get battery limiting via PowerTools and Decky, but I love that they’re baking this into the core.
Love the Bluetooth remote functionality! I can finally turn it on with my Flipper lol.
Why think the verge and not just valves official website?
