Difficult one to discuss because it's mostly setup for next week sprinkled with cryptic shenanigans.

Do we think there's a connection between Poppy Honey and Poppy?

"Poppy is real" has been going around my head. Real as in "my offspring"? Susan's mum? Okay but where did Poppy come from? ... Belinda? Sleeping next to a Time Lord creates Time Lord babies?

Poppy was also Captain Poppy back in the first episode of this Doctor run, "Space Babies". In that episode The Doctor and Ruby are confused for "Mummy & Daddy".

Given The Doctor's final words in this episode and the fact that The Rani said she wants Life and not Death, I'm guessing Poppy is the child of The Doctor & The Rani.

I'm also guessing Rogue (Jonathan Groff) is a previous/future generation of The Rani. So the love story we saw between them was when Poppy was created.

Flood/Rani saying that bi-generated Rani was her "daughter" makes me think that magical high fives between two Time Lords can also create a new Time Lords.

I knew that child looked familiar! Thank you for reassuring me I'm not going mad

Also, why doesn't everyone just use plastic cups?!

[–] Worx@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 week ago

That was a really strong start to the episode with the whole cups mystery. Nice subtle thing of Mel's bin being full of cups. And you know it's a fantasy world when the bin men accept unbagged rubbish!

Also very well done was the 1950's vibe of John and Belinda's furniture especially in the kitchen. Bel being a stay-at-home wife, the homophobia of the co-worker, the ignoring disabled / homeless people. Excellent world-building for a right wing fantasy.

I don't like the more mythology / fantasy direction of the new series but still a really enjoyable episode. I feel like "the Rani" would have been more impactful if I'd watched classic Who though..

The stuff with Conrad and the fascist dystopia was all really good but I don't care about the Rani and I definitely don't care about Omega

Just waiting for the regeneration into Billie Piper next episode and I will be finished watching the show for good. This episode was beyond awful to the point that I'm convinced RTD is trolling fans and viewers. AI-written slop.

Yes. I'm out. Watched for about 50 years. I knew it when the Rani did the Two Ronnies' sign off before she time-looped away. There's only so much shark-jumping you can watch.
