Back when I was a child, if you saw this scene, there was a 95% that what happened next was going to be racist as hell.
What?
It just meant that the main character would attempt to get it and either fail hilariously or get punished hilariously for succeeding.
In the time period I'm referring to, either the person making the pie, or the person taking the pie were usually of a very... Let's just say "dark" complexion with extremely exaggerated features. I'm not saying the posted meme is racist at all, just that TV and movies way back then were.
An example:
When flipped around, the person that baked the pie was usually depicted in the mammy stereotype.
