Slime molds are great. They feed on bacteria and other microorganisms. I have a big rotting stump in my backyard that they occasionally appear on.

I bet you could get some cool footage if you put a time lapse camera on it.

Last time I found one, I did this. You can really see the movement with a time-lapse. It's like it's breathing slowly - expanding and contracting. I got so fascinated it took a while to notice the oyster mushrooms right next to it.

Is it called dog vomit slime mold because it grows on dog vomit or because it looks like dog vomit.
