What a waste:

Of the air he breathes. Of time and money he will spend.

He has no chance.

[–] Ersatz86@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yep, but who’s air and time and money will he be wasting? I feel that if he pulls two votes away from you know who then we’re all set, so go get ‘em, tiger!

Some of what I've read indicates Manchin running third party would ultimately hurt Biden more and help Trump more.

[–] Ersatz86@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yeah, gonna disagree. Can’t imagine too many Democrats feeling real generous towards this self-aggrandizing obstructionist-in-chief.

As stated elsewhere in the conversation, this guy can’t even carry West Virginia and he’s supposed to make a dent in the incumbent vote count? Unlikely.

All it takes is a slick media campaign to sway the impressionable

Pootin figured that out in 2016 and is still at it

[–] Cranakis@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago

I hope you're right.

[–] KnightontheSun@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Fair enough, I guess. I am just so weary of these asshats. I really pine for some positive and constructive leadership.

He's an apple cart upsetter, who knows how much these independent candidates will dilute the votes for the historical right/left. I hope I'm wrong, but Manchin may just be the antidote for the moderate vote at this point.

I like to think that these asshats generally get exactly what they deserve, and that they will take care of themselves for us. In old Joe’s case, since shame is out of the question, the best we can hope for is irrelevance. He’s got a great head-start already, and an utterly failed bid for the Office of the President may just be the coup de grace 🤌🏼

So Joe Manchin wants to single-handedly throw the Senate and White House to Trump and the most corrupt Republican Party in history. And so, an increasingly unhinged fascist autocratic moron ends up with a political trifecta, and likely the opportunity to appoint even more judges and SCOTUS justices.

Wow. What a fucking guy. Wow. What a fucking smart guy.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 10 points 1 year ago

He won't be a spoil, but for some small amount of donor money. He'll get fewer votes than RFK Jr.

RFK can at least attract Republicans (almost exclusively). Nobody likes Manchin.

He pissed the Democrats are pushing him out and us voters hate him. I totally see him doing just that out of spite.

I really wish we could start bringing out the guillotines. Time to start dragging these fuckers in the streets.

What position? Groupie?

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Great. America's greatest hits continue.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

WASHINGTON, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Democratic Senator Joe Manchin, who last week announced he will retire from the Senate at the end of next year, added to his party's woes on Wednesday when he said he "absolutely" would consider running for president in 2024.

In an interview with NBC News, Manchin said: "Every American should consider it if they're in a position to help save the country."

Democrats fear that a Manchin presidential run could draw votes away from President Joe Biden and hand former President Donald Trump a victory if he is the Republican nominee for the third presidential election in a row.

The Democratic Party already was lamenting Manchin's refusal to seek another Senate term in 2024, likely handing the seat - and the party's narrow majority - to Republicans given his home state's conservative shift in recent years.

Manchin told NBC that before deciding whether to mount a run for president he would have to gauge whether there is enough voter support for him.

No Labels has insisted it will only get into the race if its yet-to-be-named candidate has a good chance of winning.

The original article contains 256 words, the summary contains 188 words. Saved 27%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

No moles are allowed to be pres; sorry Joe, better get back in that cool, wesvirginny quarry dirt: home.

Time to eat a bug!

[–] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

So someone who can't win election in West Virginia thinks he has a chance nationally.

I'm not sure if he's stupid or crazy.

[–] ArtVandelay@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

I'm not sure if he's stupid or crazy.

Yes

[–] Unaware7013@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Surely he's burned up enough good will to go out in a "please clap" of glory though!

[–] gastationsushi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Liberal voters, aka centrists, only care about defeating Trump. Manchin can only hurt that. And the press will turn on him as the pulling votes from Biden narrative heats up.

[–] Fades@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Keep an eye on your gravesite instead traitor, at least that way you actually have a chance (and for once you’ll be doing your constituents an actual favor)
