This seemed to be popular information when I posted it (ahem) "elsewhere". Thought it might be welcome to have here.

Other grand juries, such as for the documents at Bedminster, have not been announced.

The E. Jean Carroll trial for sexual assault and defamation where Trump was found liable and ordered to pay $5 million before immediately defaming her again resulting in a demand for $10 million is not listed as it's a civil case and not a crimimal one.

Amazing, you should get trumpgantt.io or something and Gantt chart this quality content.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago

That would require I know what a Gantt chart is. :) But I'll look into it!

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

So I looked at it and I think the problem doing it on a Gantt chart is the scale.

Georgia stated that the indictment could come any time between 7/11 and 9/1, so that's a pretty big stretch on the chart, and the rest are single day events like the 1/6 Judge setting a trial date (8/28), or the two scheduled trial start dates next March and May.

So

October: letitia james ny fraud case

January: jack smith and the jan 6 crimes

March: the hush money with alvin bragg

May: the jack smith documents trial

Georgia has to fit in somewhere...

Here’s the fun part. Super Tuesday is March 5th. It’s extremely possible that Trump will have secured the nomination by then. The convention is July 15th. They may be going into the convention committed to a presidential candidate who has been found guilty of multiple felonies.

And they know it.

And they just can’t help themselves.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I think they're counting on a Biden health scare to tip the scales. The only person keeping us from outright Fascism is Joe Biden's cardiologist.

[–] StupidFatRat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Lol this is what i wanna see.

Where is GA gonna fit? The scheduled completely packed lmao

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Looks like July, or maybe September cause Florida seems to be making a case against him as well.

[–] wolfcatreader@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

A busy man.

Just imagine a pallid, bald trump in an orange jumpsuit and cuffs.

[–] jasondj@ttrpg.network 2 points 1 year ago

Without the spray tan and hair plugs he’d look like a fat Palpatine.

He’ll be a pallid busted phallus perched behind a locked steel door…

[–] OldWoodFrame@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I wish I had a better feel for what's "fair" like I get that there's behind the scenes work to do but 4 months away seems like a lot to me, and I'm assuming that's the leaning-early date.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

they've had 3 years... there's not that much work.

granted there is a matter of opening the schedule in the court system to accommodate what is absolutely going to become a sensationalized trial, and less political/legal preparations for that. (i.e. security arrangements) that will take months to set up. and with it being announced and scheduled, there's a much higher risk of people taking time off to go "protest" things.

[–] Anissem@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 year ago

They’ll surely freak out and label any date before the next election as election interference. The narrative they’ve created is democrats are manipulating the justice system in their favor. Crazy times.

[–] Chetzemoka@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Regular everyday federal investigations that involve commonly prosecuted crimes with defendants who aren't political land mines can take up to five years. For an investigation into a former president and possible current presidential candidate who is charged with crimes that have almost zero legal precedent to be moving to trial in three years is astoundingly fast.

https://thetampacriminallawyer.com/how-long-can-a-federal-investigation-last/

"A Federal investigation can last upwards of 5 years due to most Federal Statute of Limitations prohibiting the Government from charging or indicting someone after that time period. It is not unusual to see an indictment that lists dates of offenses 3-5 years prior to an arrest."

[–] bron@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago (4 children)

What are the chances he's elected and making all the cases go away?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.one 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

3 of the 4 trials are currently scheduled before the election. The New York and Georgia cases he will also have 0 control over.

[–] bron@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

That's a little more comforting to hear. If you commit a crime, you shouldn't be able to get away with it. Still don't like the fact that it's still possible...

[–] ProdSlash@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There’s no way Americans would elect…

I can’t even finish it with a straight face. There are enough absolute fucking ijits in the US to send Trump back to the White House.

[–] bron@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

Yes we should remember to get out and vote! Don't get complacent.

[–] Zippy@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Honestly if he is elected then that is the ultimate trial by jury. While It would be democratic in the purest form, ignoring problems with popular vote etc, it would also be very telling us the US reelected this shit stain. Almost like they would deserve that government.

The more unfair issue is the rest of the world that didn't elect him often is part of the fallout.

[–] ikapoz@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Way, wayyyy higher than they should be.

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)
[–] rifugee@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

[–] Skiff@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago
