after living decades of my life as an overweight person, i eventually accepted my future as morbidly obese and filled with crippling insecurities. i tried to control my eating, my behavioral habits, to exercise at all, to speak to a therapist.. i did a lot. it wasn't until the public release of glp-1 medications that something began to genuinely work. i have been on Zepbound since November of 2024 and i reached 100lbs lost at the end of June. i feel incredible. i am not where i want to be physically (still have my insecurities) but my body absolutely knows the difference. everything is easier to do and my blood pressure is finally normal.

i am looking forward to more loss and eventually feeling more comfortable in my existence. i know this won't cure me of my psychological issues but this will absolutely make it easier to manage. i can't believe i'm here! 100 lbs is a truly unbelievable amount of weight for me to have lost. i mean it quite literally, i cannot believe this is real. i am thrilled. :D

At first though I thought that said 1,000 and I was very confused.

Thought OP lost their savings gambling 💀

It's awesome right? I can do pushups everyday. I couldn't do fuck and all in the past.

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 5 points 2 months ago

it's quite the change, yes. :D

Holy shit, congratulations!

I was going to reference the random things that came to mind that equals that weight, but then realized it would be kind of weird.

So instead I'll just add that you rock, good for you!

no, please do! that is interesting.

You have lost:

  • Two giant bags of my dogs food
  • the combined weight of my 6yr old, 3 yr old, as well as my corgi
  • within sight of my entire wife
  • a few bales of hay
  • The combined weight of all the meat in my freezer (roughly)
  • Two bags of potatos from the local farmers market
  • TEN BAGS OF POTATO FROM THE STORE!

And approximately 1/4 the weight of my wife's suitcase for any given trip.

Anyway thats the nonsense that came to mind. Congrats again!

Let’s fucking go! This is an incredible accomplishment.

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

thank you so much! it is. it doesn't feel like one because i am merely allowing the medication to work. i am in awe how effective my medication is.

[–] misterdoctor@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I’m really hoping to get set up with a primary care doctor when open enrollment happens at my company so I can start the process of seeking medication myself, seeing if I’m a good fit and all that. Stories like yours are inspiring to say the least.

gotcha. happy to be a source of encouragement. i am a rather skeptical person and only started myself because of a trusted friend's journey. i cannot speak more highly of the experience so far. keep your head up and advocate for yourself. metabolic disorders are real, they are genuine, and you deserve treatment to have a functioning body.

Congratulations! I am currently struggling with weight loss as well, but getting nearer my goal all the time.

100 lbs is a huge accomplishment and I am proud of you.

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 4 points 2 months ago

[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Hell yeah, fuck yeah

[–] christov@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Yaaaaaas! Congrats ! Incredible achievement and hope your journey continues to make you happy

That's fucking wild. I'm tryna lose some weight too. Big congrats OP, that's amazing

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

thanks! if you're struggling and do have excess weight, you may want to bring up a glp-1 med like Zepbound. i'm not here to push them but i would be lying if i said i wasn't trying to get people to acknowledge and talk about them. there's a weird stigma around them currently and it is very bizarre. but anyway--that's ultimately your choice to make if you're interested.

I might have some friends that might need this advice more than I do but I personally don't need this. Thanks for the information though!

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

[–] hoanbridgetroll@midwest.social 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Congratulations, that’s an amazing accomplishment!! I hope it makes it easier to see your own worth, and I hope it sets you up for more of the physical self-care that will give you more and better years down the road. Great job!

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 4 points 2 months ago

aw thank you. that is ultimately what i hope this helps with as well. i want the mental and psychological relief to the degree that it allows me to seek proper care of myself. i appreciate it!

[–] SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Congrats on losing 100lb in a week! That's awesomesauce!

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 3 points 2 months ago

[–] Mustakrakish@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Definetely read it as 1000 pounds lost lmao

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

It's alright, I thought it was a U.K. lad saying he lost 100 pounds, quid, Bob, or such.

Whoever they are, I am much more proud of them now, before I just felt bad for em
