I hate to inform you of this, but Culver's was a Wisconsin exclusive until maybe 10 years ago. I assume you are in KC, as they have Minskeys and Culver's there. By all means, though, celebrate Minskeys. If it's the pizza place in KC, General Tsos pizza sounds amazing.

I'll suggest Tom's Drive-in for burgers and Rocky Roccoco for pizza in my area.

Had a Culver's in Colorado Springs when I was in highschool like 10 years ago, pretty sure it was there even sooner.

There are a few here in Texas, too.

Afaik, Culver's is a Midwestern exclusive restaurant. I'm generally in KC Missouri which is why I mentioned those two places

[–] AquaTofana@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

There is one whole Culver's in San Antonio, Texas.

That frozen custard is dope af.

[–] Sequentialsilence@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

South Carolina we have Culver’s here as well.

[–] Sea_pop@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

They have Culver's all over Charlotte, NC

[–] scottywh@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

They're definitely also in states considered "Western States" in addition to the "Midwestern States" these days.

[–] TheDoozer@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

I thought it was just in Wisconsin.

My wife and I went on a full vegetarian diet for two weeks (a friend recommended a "cleanse" of sorts). We did, and the first meal with meat we had were Culver's double bacon cheeseburgers. We nearly threw up.

Minskeys is overpriced trash. Would rather have Waldo pizza buffet or hell even Pizza Shuttle.

Every proper restaurant is unique. I believe you are talking about fast-food joints.

[–] OneWomanCreamTeam@sh.itjust.works 4 points 11 months ago

There are definitely non-fastfood chains.

Denny's? iHop? Outback? Texas Roadhouse? Red Lobster? Hard Rock? Rainforest Cafe?

These are not "proper restaurants?" They're certainly not fast food.

[–] theohgee@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

I don't know that I would call any national chain a "proper restaurant" but maybe that's just me.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I live in Seattle, too many to count.

[–] TheDoozer@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] FrenLivesMatter 2 points 11 months ago

People from Seattle eating Dick's will never not be funny.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 5 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Tokyo Express.

Despite the name, it's a Chinese restaurant. $6 will buy a meal that's 3 whole pounds of food. The styrofoam containers are usually stuffed so full, they barely close.

[–] Bloodwoodsrisen@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 11 months ago

As for Chinese restaurants, Golden Rice near my home owns my soul. Crispy Honey Chicken, their Crab Rangoons, ugh, so good

[–] HessiaNerd@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I used to be near a place like that in college. I could eat 2 or 3 meals from them. And it was good. They did Chinese food and donuts. Stoners paradise.

[–] happilybitchycowboy@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Y'all ever heard of Bojangles?

[–] OneWomanCreamTeam@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Bojangles is good, but they're all over the south.

[–] scottywh@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Southeast anyway

[–] ShittyBeatlesFCPres@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Chain restaurants are sort of rare where I live (NOLA) but Dat Dog is pretty good. You basically pick a type of sausage and the toppings but the sausages are good and the toppings can involve everything from ketchup to crawfish étouffée. It’s like if a hot dog place but obviously way better.

[–] steal_your_face@lemmy.ml 2 points 11 months ago

Dat dog is fire

[–] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

Fuck now I miss NOLA :(

Used to live there and nowhere else compares in terms of food :(

[–] Sea_pop@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Dat Dog in Frenchman's Quarter is my go to whenever I am in town.

[–] Sequentialsilence@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

I live in a bit of a foodie town, so there’s too many to mention, but here are some of my favorites.

Codfather. Dude’s an immigrant from Scotland and was annoyed that there were no fish and chips restaurants here so he made one.

Dashi. Tagline is “Put a little Sriracha in your Sombrero.” It’s hispanic-asian fusion.

Vicious Biscuit. I’ve never seen them not have a line out the door. Really good biscuits with all kinds of toppings.

Boxcar Betty’s. It’s what Chik-Fil-A wishes it could be.

Rodney Scott’s, and Swig and Swine. 2 BBQ restaurants that have spoiled me for BBQ. I have to be careful how often I eat at one of these because it’s so good it’s hard to stop eating.

[–] Fakebelieve@programming.dev 2 points 11 months ago

Also have Culver's here, but my favorite is the OG Burger King in mattoon, IL.

[–] OneWomanCreamTeam@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

The one and only thing I really miss about Alabama is Foosacklys. They're kinda like Zaxby's, but way better.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Moved to the PNW from Atlanta, I miss Zaxbys so much

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I used to think we were the only place in the US to have a Rocky Rococo's because it, as far as I'm aware, was the only one in the upper northwest of the country. But otherwise, I can't really think of many places here that you can't find anywhere else that I've actually gone to and know aren't anywhere else.

I know my parents have been to local restaurants, but as far as I'm aware, I just can't think of any that I've been to.

[–] Furedadmins@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yuck. They are local - literally founded here - and they are inedible. I don't know how they ever spread that far.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

Compared to the other pizza places in my hometown (Domino's, Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, etcetera) it's literally the 2nd best chain restaurant pizza I've ever had.

[–] Rocky60@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

Monicles Pizza

[–] wintermute_oregon@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

Word of mouth. Damn good food.
