Available throughout the year. Banana ๐ŸŒ supremacy

It also fill you up without producing a lot of poop (based on my experience).

One drawback? You need to avoid making direct eye contact with anyone around you while eating one.

Truly a superior fruit, I'd be eating many more fruits if they were as problem free as bananas are

[โ€“] Chais@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Downside: makes me itchy on the inside and makes breathing harder.

[โ€“] LunarFox_@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Same! Which makes me sad because bananas are so good.

I'm so glad we're finally talking about this as a community.

In all seriousness, banana is my favorite fruit just becase when you eat it, it doesn't make your hands all sticky and stuff

Counterpoint: the brown part

Random fact of the day: The hard thing at one end of a banana is not a seed, the tiny dark speckles throughout a banana are seeds.

Bananas also can, and are, used often for scale. Bananas, so diverse, nature's MacGyver fruit.

Banana for scale

@Banana Looks very "appealing" ๐Ÿ˜‚

All joking aside - do you eat banana skin?

Seemingly it's edible but I don't know of many people that do eat the skin. I've heard when the skins go brown you can bake in the oven, presumably leave to dry out and then make banana tea. ๐Ÿค”

Banans are technically berrries

[โ€“] KingGordon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Counter argument: stupid gross banana strings.

[โ€“] BlueLineBae@midwest.social 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Those are "string-a-lings" and I give them to my dog. He loves his string-a-lings!

[โ€“] PeefJerky@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Hey those are fibres. Good for the gut, good for pooping.

I love bananas. I have tried breaking free many times, and failed. They're set to be about half the price of apples, always, direct from the company. The Chiquita banana corporation also funded union-busting activities for those that were collecting the bananas, and by union busting I mean they paid a paramilitary force to terrorize farmers and farmhands back into poor working conditions. They also have a long history of destabilizing local economies and governments to ensure their superiority in the region.

But damn if they don't just get you with the taste and cost
