Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

We shouldn't encourage snitch culture when it comes to food.

If someone is stealing food, they're not doing it for fun or profit (unless it's caviar or other high value items).

See somebody shoplifting? No you fucking didn't.

The frozen food specialist said that anyone who spots a suspected shoplifter in its stores should inform the nearest Iceland employee who will verify the incident before adding the reward to the individual’s loyalty card for immediate use.

Posted this because it sounds like one of the boring dystopian things ever. Plus the perverse incentive to snitch on people for a pound off your groceries is quite horrible.

Sorry, we couldn't prosecute the shoplifters so we can't give you the £1 reward. They are still out on the streets though and know who you are, so watch out.

This policy sounds dumb, in particular the insultingly small amount of money involved. That said, there is a problem with shoplifting in the UK where the police aren't treating it as a serious problem and often refuse to get involved. High streets are already dying with predatory retail unit rents and losing stock ontop of that might end up being the nail in the coffin.
