I do enjoy watching a bit of sportsball. You know the thing where fans of red guys and fans of blue guys chirp and bantz at each other about which colour is the losers and which colour owns, and you hurl insults at the refs for making a call even if it was probably correct.

So what are the biggest sports communities are on lemmy? And/or are there any instances that have more sports than others?

Considering the size of lemmy, I'm not even in the mood to be picky about which sport it is. I just want to tell someone else on lemmy that their team sucks.

I do my best to post on sports@beehaw.org. the response is predictably limited. Eventually i want to make game threads but I'm too busy at the moment to do more than go on google/sbnation and post articles i find interesting

Subscribed! But yeah, not a tonne of activity.

That's a good point about a game thread. I think making a game thread where there's a stream available to everyone might get some people interested. I'll look at making a barebones game thread there in the not-too-distant future and see if anyone bites.

Yeah it requires having a bot and calling to an API to constantly update the scores and editing the thread. It shouldnt be too difficult to program but again, I'm occupied for a good while

Yeah by "barebones" I meant "the bot is just me manually pressing 'edit' when someone scores" haha. Need to find a game where I know there won't be too much scoring....

not that big but I hope https://lemmy.ml/c/formula1 can establish itself as a good successor of r/formula1
