The Seattle Children’s Hospital filed a lawsuit in Travis County District Court on Dec. 7 against the Texas Office of the Attorney General (OAG), after that agency requested documents related to gender transition policies and any such care provided to Texas children.

However, hospital claims that the OAG lacks jurisdiction to demand such records from the hospital, and that Washington’s “Shield Law” protects it from requests made by states that “restrict or criminalize reproductive and gender-affirming care.”

“The Shield Law prohibits Washington-based entities such as Seattle Children’s from ‘[c]omply[ing] with subpoena, warrant, court order, or other civil or criminal legal process for records, information, facilities, or assistance related to protected health care services that are lawful in the state of Washington,'” the lawsuit stated.

+1 for WA state to have the foresight to make a shield law to give WA entities a clear legal way to tell the Red state Gestapo to eat a bag of dicks.

We wouldn't phrase it like that. 'Round these parts, Dick's is a beloved local burger chain. Telling someone to "eat a bag of Dick's" would be like saying "have a fantastic day!"

Instead, I'll say "slurp my butt".

Dick's is quite good for the price. I would say that's the closest thing to In N Out that Seattle has.

Dick’s is quite good for the price

yeah ok

I would say that’s the closest thing to In N Out that Seattle has.

fuck bible burger lol, it's way overrated.

fuck bible chicken while we're at it, just so we're all clear.

The chkn is the most overrated fast food joint I've ever had. There's always a line out the parking lot and around the corner. It baffles me.

In N Out is a really good cheeseburger for the price. I wouldn't call it overrated, I would call it appropriately rated. It's not the best cheeseburger around, but it's the best fast food cheeseburger for $3.50.

Paxon is angling to get SCotUS to declare these kinds of Shield laws unconstitutional.

I'm convinced texas is filled with a bunch of losers and perverts that are obsessed with kids genitalia.

Something is going on down there. I'm from Texas. My family is still there so I go back often. It's so radicalized there that Arkansas feels like a blue state in comparison. North Texas in particular has lost its fucking mind.

You're not wrong. I live in DFW and things have gotten really weird here. It has made me wary when meeting new people. I'll often meet someone, get along with them, think they're pretty cool, then they start going on with some crazy right-wing rhetoric out of nowhere. It's actually pretty worrisome.

My father has lost his fucking mind after moving there.

[–] Glimpythegoblin@lemm.ee 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yep. My parents are still down there. My dad barely has a mind that isn't "patriot" anymore.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 5 points 11 months ago

It infuriates me that they use that word for something that is very far from patriotism. They stole and destroyed an important word.

The #Texas #GOP certainly is, at least.

Man, they claim to be all about state autonomy, but sure do love trying to force other states into doing something.

Almost like it was never about state rights/the children/morality.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 9 points 11 months ago

Oh, it's about states rights. My state's rights to interfere with your state.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 6 points 11 months ago

Nothing Republicans say has any weight to it. It's all lies, all of it.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 8 points 11 months ago

Dear Texas,

FUCK YOU.

sincerely, Seattle WA.

Should be interesting to see this play out in the courts. Ordinarily I'd say it was open-and-shut but in today's Court who knows.
