They are receptive to cat nip, I do know that.

I was about to say with how crazy cats are normally on catnip, I'd love to see how a lion responds to it ๐Ÿ˜‚

That shit is cocaine for kitties ๐Ÿ˜ป

Just a heads up you can use ?t=480s at the end of that link to signify the time to start the video.

Ah, good old broken YouTube app. I don't know if this is true for everyone, but on my phone at least that link just took me to the beginning of the video.

[โ€“] FlorianSimon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 months ago

Same for on the website!

[โ€“] whostosay@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Huh, they may have changed it. I've noticed it's gotten spotty of the last few years on whether it works or not

[โ€“] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 9 months ago

According to Wikipedia, large cat species are more susceptible to the nip.

They also roll on their back and curl up their paws while looking at you expectantly.

The furry stomach was always a trap.

Would you give it all up for a moment of pure joy?

Whooooooos got a floofsky tumski?

[โ€“] Bennettiquette@lemmy.world 18 points 9 months ago (2 children)

i wonder about other behaviors as well. like, are tigers also into making biscuits before a nap? would lions also bow for a bongo solo on the base of their tail? how excited would a leopard be to stumble onto a giant heated blanket?

[โ€“] Devi@kbin.social 16 points 9 months ago (2 children)

There's videos online of captive tigers doing all those things.

This is my favourite video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J11uu8L8FTY

[โ€“] Bennettiquette@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

this brought so much joy, lol. thanks for sharing.

[โ€“] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Whats the one that looks like a large cat with stubby tail?

[โ€“] Devi@kbin.social 2 points 9 months ago

Raindance? He's a bobcat.

[โ€“] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Iโ€™m thinking yes. Assuming their dietary needs are roughly similar. However, every cat Iโ€™ve ever know has been notoriously picky about what food they like and dislike so Iโ€™m assuming big cats are the same.

I think that big cats, at least wild ones, aren't as picky as housecats, because when you live in the wild you have to eat whatever you can catch.

[โ€“] user1234@lemmynsfw.com 10 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I always figured that if I went on and expedition to areas with big cats, I'd be sure to pack a laser pointer and a hand vacuum.

[โ€“] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Someone has to have done this already

[โ€“] shottymcb@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

Someone on YouTube has done the laser pointer at a big cat sanctuary, I know I've seen it.

[โ€“] jacktherippah@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

There are even videos of big ass cats (maybe panthers/lions idk) on YouTube meowing and purring so uhhh maybe?

[โ€“] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 9 months ago

Actual big cats (Panthera) can't purr or meow to my knowledge. Cheetahs can, but they are small cats.

They're just like us ๐Ÿ˜บ
