I lost a bet to my friend and now I need to dress up like a chef and spend all evening Sunday preparing and serving him and his girlfriend a full 4 course meal. I cook a lot and am confident I can do this well, but I'd also like to hear any suggestions anyone may have to make this an awesome experience. Any dish recommendations? Or maybe tips to make the whole thing extra fancy? We agreed on about a $50 budget* for the ingredients (this is only for food and doesn't include alcohol).

Things they can't/won't eat:

  • Mango
  • Seafood
  • Mushrooms

I was planning on doing like a soup, an app, a main dish, and dessert. What fancy meal would you do in my shoes?

*I don't mind going slightly over budget and I'm also going to make some decisions based on the price of stuff at my butcher.
