Brooks contract just makes no sense. There couldn’t have been many teams interested in him

Yeah I don’t know either, it looks highly questionable given they have Jalen Green, KPJ plus they drafted Amen Thompson. I’m not a Rockets fan but I’d love to know their thoughts on it - and I hope a year of Sengun doesn’t go to waste because that guy was already having trouble finding playing time under Silas.
And if they had gotten someone like Lillard, Kawhi, AD someone you can reasonably try to build around, it'd be understandable. But overpaying for FVV isn't that
They realized their young chuckers need some guidance in chucking so they got some of the best chuckers on the market.
more realistically, the owner is a cheap ass fuckin mobster who will never pay enough for Houston to have a competent FO or coaching staff and he will not pony up to pay players when the time comes. Harden was incredibly wise to ask out and im a huge harden hater
edit: I will give massive props to their scouting though. They really seem to knock it out of the park in the draft. Heres hoping the man fired for sexual harassment can create a proper culture of accountability for these young guys
Yeah what they’re doing this offseason is strange
When the Harden rumors started I dismissed them because they were rebuilding, and then they go and overpay Brooks and give a little bit too much to FVV, so I guess there could be some truth to the Harden chatter
Maybe they’re “rebuilding to be competitive and get people to buy tickets” instead of “rebuilding to win it all.” Tilman Fertitta needs to recoup his losses from his hotel during the pandemic, after all.
this makes a whole lot of sense
They don't own their picks so they have no choice but to compete. And you can't really attract FAs with the dreck roster they have, hence these forced overpays.
Just a failed rebuild by an organization that doesn't seem to care much about winning to begin with in my opinion. Somehow they've gotten the most opportunities in the tank war versus OKC and Orlando, and they've made many questionable decisions that have led to their current state. They are still rebuilding, but its just not going anywhere.
