Finding unexploded ordinance is fairly common in areas that saw lots of conflict in the last century.

What's the deal here? My grandfather used to have bags he told me were rattlesnake eggs.

its just a prank. usually something that sounds like a rattle when you shake it and snaps or pops when you open it. good for scaring kids.
