Now I need a Wikihow on what makes boycotting Bud Light different from “cancel culture”

[–] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 37 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Cancel culture is perpetrated by the dirty "lefties." Boycotting Bud Light was a "stand against promoters of the wokeness."

[–] Ep1cFac3pa1m@lemmy.world 17 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I learned nothing, thanks!

[–] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 11 points 7 months ago

Now you’re getting it!

[–] Socsa@sh.itjust.works 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

So what if I butt chug bud light but I voted for Bernie twice?

[–] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 1 points 7 months ago

Not all heroes wear capes!

[–] butter@midwest.social 13 points 7 months ago

My office got mad at me for pointing that out.

I kept doing it.

Cancel culture is when you don't like what I like. When you like the things I don't like it's because you're woke.

I'm the main character, why don't you understand that?

[–] Ep1cFac3pa1m@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I think in order for it to be cancel culture I have to refuse to spend money on it. We should all be legally required to spend money on things conservatives love. That way we can make sure there’s no woke residue.

You also gotta strap people down and force people to watch things they don't like a la Clockwork Orange. Because that's FREEDOM!

Weirdly enough this was decent at teaching me to build an actual scarecrow.

[–] Aurenkin@sh.itjust.works 35 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Or strawman, if you prefer

[–] Hupf@feddit.de 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Are you two having an argument?

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

Or an affair, if you prefer.

[–] Ep1cFac3pa1m@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago

That’s what I do anytime some MAGA relative starts whining about something on Boomerbook: “is this that cancel culture I’ve been hearing so much about?”

Black people on TV are probably OK now. But they shouldn’t be kissing Pure Master Race Whites.

And no trans people. Also no gay signs of affection.

Edit: /s

they're regular people, they can do whatever they want

[–] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Hey initially did you think I was expressing a racism and homophobic opinion?

Hoped “probably OK” and The Capitalization & Wording would serve as my /s.

Added it!
