3rd paragraph of the "article"

By the same token, nearly 6 in 10 also say they lack confidence in the mental capability of former President Donald Trump, the 77-year-old Republican front-runner.

This article is verbatim from the AP news site also.

from the ap article, https://apnews.com/article/biden-state-of-union-mental-capacity-trump-reelection-66d8784586d21f30885d8153f949510c

The poll of 1,102 adults was conducted Feb. 22-26, 2024, using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

these polls are shit.

Yeah, but reality is too mundane. Gotta spice it up with inflammatory headlines!

both candidates should have been replaced

between the concerns over mental capabilities and everything else Biden should be taken off and so should Trump not just for age but he is not being put on the ballot in certain states leaving just one party to vote for

if any election shows just how rigged the US voting system is it is this one

Democrats stacked the board in their favor between barring people from voting to taking Republicans off the ballot in certain states and his overall message is vote for me or bad things will happen

US need to allow voters to vote and for their to be multiple real actual choices to vote for

That can't be right, I'm told this is the most important election of our time!

Glad to see that while the number is depressing, it's consistent for both Biden and Trump. 6/10 vs. 6/10.

The key speeches to watch are this week:

Super Tuesday - Yes, there will be a Megapost for it.

Thursday - State of the Union - Also Megaposted.

After that, the national conventions in July and August.

Both of them will have to be IMMACULATE. Any sign of slippage will be POUNCED on and rightly so.

Don't forget the debates. Yes, they're still important, even though we know what they're both going to say. Yes, they're mainly performative at this point. Yes, they both stand more to lose from making a dumb gaffe than to gain from getting their points across. But if you are convinced that you are fit to run for office, you should be able to explain your points without a teleprompter in front of you. The SOTU speech and convention speeches are also important, but they will be pre-written and able to be rehearsed.

IF we actually have debates. :( I'm less than confident.

There will definitely be debates scheduled. If nothing else, networks bank on selling airtime for their pre-game and post-game shows, and want to get people used to their commentators so they tune in on election night (which is their Super Bowl).

Biden has a lot more to gain from a good debate performance, so if the debate is 1:1 with Trump, he will show up regardless. Trump would take that, too, because his ego won't let him decline. He has it in for Biden, since he believes the lie that the last election was stolen from him.

It gets more interesting if third parties are in the mix. Particularly if Haley mounts an independent run somehow. Trump could argue that he won't go to any debate Haley is at, because he already beat her once, no backsies. (And yes, I expect him to actually say "No Backsies.") That will put Biden in a jam, because he needs the debate to prove himself, but he knows that Haley would eat him for lunch. IMHO, that is the most dangerous thing for Biden. I think Biden might roll the dice on not showing up if that is the case, but it's a tough call.

what debates are y'all talking about?

there are only these propaganda tv airings that show two corporate representatives spouting BS to grab votes like that show American Idol show and we see who got the most numbers at the end of every four years
