I guess GIFs aren't supported but starting today, when I send an emoji in Google Messages (beta) it continuously spins around and bounces. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

EDIT: Looks like there is a website that details all the animations. https://googlefonts.github.io/noto-emoji-animation/

Everything Google has done with emojis after the original version of the blobmojis has been obnoxious and weird

The blobs were the ultimate emojis, and you cannot change my mind

My wife and I fell in love over the blobs. I keep screenshots of them on my phone so I can text her using them to this today. It's clunky, but they're exactly the ones I want to use sometimes.

You know that emoji kitchen on Gboard supports the blob?

[-] henfredemars@lemdro.id 3 points 11 months ago

Oh wow, I did not know that! They don't seem to be the animated versions that I'm a little more familiar with. That was years ago and I don't remember exactly how I produced these.

Have you not seen our lord and savior emoji kitchen?

The period of time where they completely ruined the turtle emoji after killing the blobs was the emoji dark ages. At least they finally fixed it.

Hmm, yeah not sure how I feel about them either, they at least seem well done.

I like the slightly-frowning one, they kind of remind me of the Lego characters.

😕

I feel like it would be better if they only looped once or twice when you open it instead of doing it continuously.

[-] PixelPassport@lemmy.myserv.one 8 points 11 months ago

Yeah agreed, that's how it works in Telegram and I don't find it annoying
