Yeah, all those trans people, I don't know how they can be happy. Very suspicious, they must be taking drugs or something. /s
Honestly I think that's a large portion of it.
They know if they treat us with respect, just let us exist, we'll do so much better. And it's our own choices and decisions that lead to that happiness. We face an obstacle and despite odds can overcome it.
But we're dealing with some thoroughly miserable, sociopathic individuals IMO, who can't feel good until they know someone else hurts. They need targets, scapegoats -- and here we are overcoming centuries of stigma. They see our gains as their losses, when in reality we can all do better.
The more I think about it, this is the only explanation that makes sense for the irrational fear and hate toward trans people.
My mother used to say that there's people who lay awake at night afraid that someone might be happy.
I wanna see a study on regret rates for other things that are obvious goods. What's the regret rate for wearing glasses? For learning to meditate? For getting a haircut? For taking paracetamol? For blowing your nose? For bandaging a wound?
I bet the regret rate for transition is "uniquely" low because we just don't check the regret rates for other obvious goods. Transition should be considered on the same level as wearing glasses, if the regret rate is similar.
