And yet, if god were real, and if god truly loved lgbtq, wouldn’t he maybe say something to his assholish followers? Like, I dunno. If I had a friend and some of my employees started mocking them, discriminating against them and generally being assholes, I’d fire their ass immediately.

We don’t see that. Either god’s not real, god’s impotent, or he hates lgbtq. I’m gonna fall into the first two- he’s impotent because he’s not real.

Even disregarding all of this, if I put myself for a short minute in the shoes of a religious person, I'm sure I could rationalize this by saying: "well, imagine a father who has an alcoholic son", and so on. Of course there are plenty of things you could say to that, but by then you're on the third comment down, and no one is going to read it.

God isn't so awesome in the NT. Jesus and Paul are going around condemning people to hell and we are told that God will chain a women to her bed, men will rape her, and all her kids born of rape will die. Jesus himself creates a parable of a king (where spoiler he is the king) who will one day demand that the bodies of all those oppose him will be cast in front of him.

As bad as the OT god was he didn't sentence anyone to hell or tell people that there would be oceans of human blood one day.
