Walking to show commitment was the point of the song...

[-] teuast@lemmy.ca 41 points 10 months ago

Also, the very next line in Hey There Delilah is "I'd walk to you if I had no other way."

[-] Zagorath@aussie.zone 19 points 10 months ago

"Just to be the guy that walked 500 miles". Not exactly subtle.

[-] Deestan@beehaw.org 11 points 10 months ago

"I would nap 1 hour in air travel first class, and I would nap 1 hour more, just to be that guy who napped 2 hours and took a taxi to you door."

[-] papalonian@kbin.social 11 points 10 months ago

Ah man, you're right, the post isn't funny anymore

[-] AtomfriedMegaforce@lemmy.world 52 points 10 months ago

Did you notice we never got details where he walked the second 500 miles? He may walked in one direction. Then he found out she lives next to him and walked the whole 500 miles back!

[-] EddoWagt@feddit.nl 27 points 10 months ago

This is basically the SpongeBob pizza delivery episode

[-] AtomfriedMegaforce@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago

...oh my God! You're right

[-] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 18 points 10 months ago

His goal was "just to be the man who walked a thousand miles to fall down at your door" so it's not impossible he just walked 2000 laps around the block she lives on.

[-] AtomfriedMegaforce@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

His goals are beyond our understanding

[-] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

It's like that scene from A Knights Tale.

"What are you doing?"

"L O S I N G."

"I don't understand?!"

"Oh, neither do I."

To be fair, he did say he'd walk to her if he had no other way. However, since there are said planes, trains and cars, he's just being efficient.

Today I found out it's 'Hey there Delilah' and not 'Hey dirty lilah'.

I walked 500 miles once. Took like a month. It's called the Camino de Santiago

[-] SomeAmateur@sh.itjust.works 11 points 10 months ago

Where in the world is Carmino de Santiago?

[-] naticus@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Hit it, Rockapella!

A kilometer compensating for something.

[-] HiddenLayer5@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago

Fun fact: all the imperial units are now fixed on the SI system. Meaning that their formal definitions use SI units. So it's literally just SI with extra steps.

[-] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

Fun fact: the mile was originally defined as 1000 paces.

[-] original_ish_name@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

So he walked 1 million paces?

[-] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

He only said he would, never said he did

[-] MonsiuerPatEBrown@reddthat.com 2 points 10 months ago

Kilometer Classic

[-] samus12345@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

1.6 kilometers. "But I would walk 804.67 kilometers and I would walk 804.67 more..."

[-] ItsABarmcake@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Ffs Now I've got this song in my head

[-] Decoy321@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago
