What a terrible day to know how to read.

[–] mikyopii@programming.dev 15 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, I was in a good mood a few minutes ago.

I've read and seen some pretty horrible stuff on the internet but this article disturbed me a lot. Something about animal abuse really affects me.

Here's some good news to hopefully brighten your day back up!

He will formally make a plea later this month and is facing up to five years in prison.

Only up to 5 years...

[–] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 13 points 5 months ago

Good thing he's white and they didn't find any weed. Poor guy wouldn't see the daylight again

[–] BrikoX@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 months ago

The most fucked up thing is that he's getting busted for sharing the videos with others. If he just kept it on its own device, he would have walked free.

That picture. Jesus Christ. In 20 years there will be studies on all of the red flags people willfully ignored.

Literally and figuratively.

How the fuck this dude have a Ice Cube t-shirt on his wall under a Confederate flag

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's Ice Cube, but I get your meaning.

[–] treadful@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 months ago

Damn, caught me before the edit.

It's a trump thing.

Global monkey torture network! Try saying that five times fast!

Also, I'm a little surprised that monkey torture is popular enough to have its own network of fans. Where are they gonna hold Global Monkey Torturecon?

[–] livus@kbin.social 11 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Probably serious overlap with CSAM rings.

You don't seem like an edgelord so I'm thinking maybe you don't know much about this case.

[–] ArugulaZ@kbin.social 16 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Well, no. I'm more a Dork Web (federated) kind of guy than a Dark Web (holy shit this will get me put in jail) kind of guy.

I'm genuinely puzzled that this is a thing. Some people enjoy sadism, but this is a very specific flavor, one that would be kind of difficult and expensive to maintain. Hey, let's go get a monkey to torture. Who says that? Who wants that?

[–] livus@kbin.social 17 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Sociopathic sadists and there is a sexual component, simians are homo sapiens adjacent.

We actually used to have a problem with them reaching out on Reddit. The Youtube community as well had to keep reporting it.

They are a lot like pedophiles, they will introduce the topic and elicit opinions but what they were really doing was trying to drive likeminded people to their youtubes which were sort of gateways to the other stuff.

As for the specificity it's the same sort of structure as the SEA child abuse livecam rings insofar as the organizer outsources it to SEA countries where they have easier access to victims.

There's nothing funny about it, it's absolutely horrific forms of animal abuse and this guy should be looking at a lot more than 5 years.

Jeesus tapdancing cristo, mods know this shit, see this shit (and worse!) and don't get paid?

humans suck

[–] Monument@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 5 months ago

Same. Until reading comments, I really thought the group was referring to themselves as digital monkeys, and they bullied people online to the point of it being torture.
After reading comments. Well - I’ll still open the article, but I’ll only skim it.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I didn't want to read it, was the whole point to just torture the monkeys? They weren't doing it for any other purpose??

[–] livus@kbin.social 1 points 5 months ago

They were getting money but the paying customers just wanted to see extreme animal cruelty yes.

[–] ArugulaZ@kbin.social 10 points 5 months ago

Who ever thought a Confederate would be capable of such cruelty? No, sorry, couldn't keep a straight face through that one.

[–] baggins@beehaw.org 9 points 5 months ago

Holy fuck. That's something that needs to be eradicated.

Just when you thought humans couldn't be more shitty.

[–] aseriesoftubes@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

In this scumbag’s case, I’m OK with an eye for an eye.
