I think there was a time when he could have apologized for a dumb mistake and everyone would have moved on. It is world news now because HE chose another and unfortunate path - which probably has no route back to the sunlit lands.

You don't have to use Google at all. They are pretty ubiquitous, so you have to make a little effort - search with another tool (I find duckduckgo to be quite satisfactory). Although Youtube has the lion's share of the video, there are other places to go. It is the same with all Google products.

maybe you are a little short on RAM? OS and apps keep growing, but installed RAM does not grow with them. :(

You can count on this though: spending on something will be way up.

This is an interesting issue - I worked as a high school teacher for a while and all the "real" teachers were always discussing the idea of critical thinking and how to teach it. It seemed to me the critical thinking lessons were simply the assignments to do something the students did not know HOW to do. The admonition "Well? Figure it OUT!" was the driving command. So in a way, life's challenges are everyone's lessons in critical thinking whether they realize or not. To be sure, we can prepare children better or worse for those challenges - in some degree by whether they learn rote facts in school, or spend more time in actual problem-solving and learning to do collaborative activities.

Isn't a program of instructional videos antithetical to the concept of free thought? ;)

It can be a hard road to stubbornly refuse to follow the path of least resistance. But it is vital that as many as possible forge alternative paths or the path of least resistance (Chrome) can become the ONLY path.

When I was living on a sailboat, the logic of overcast days was this; that overcast days are often stormy days, so have a wind generator for the "bad weather". But this may not work in your place - sometimes it is just a low-energy day; cloudy and calm.

Of course the other approach is storage; but it tends to be expensive.

Excellent; this seems to show my system has a high reliability, as I have observed, and at the most severe conditions, about 10% or 15% reserve capacity. I expect to have an EV later this decade, and my existing house system will not provide for that. I may need a stand-alone system for EV charging, or some EVs have their own charging (Aptera looks attractive, there may be others?) I haven't figured it out yet.
