Particularly an issue when you’re googling an obscure software issue, you just get spammed with the same copy/paste “troubleshooting” steps. Which usually boil down to “reinstall this completely unrelated driver”.

Just reading this caused a small spike of ice cold fury within my soul

I needed to see this, just in general, today

When I was more active in ED spaces, shows like these were really popular. I watched a lot of Supersize v Superskinny but didn't really bother with the others.

Came from a starved mindset where I so obsessed with food and weight that I only wanted to watch stuff that related directly to food and weight.

There was also discussion in ED spaces I was in about how the stuff that these shows were doing was unhealthy and fucked up but had been deemed entertainment and therefore permissable. But us doing similar stuff was (rightfully) seen as fucked up.

I want to stress that no one in the communities I was in was ever judging the contestants. The only people we were viewing negatively were the producers who were putting people in danger and also like, ourselves.

Can I report these accounts without clicking on to their profiles?

My whole childhood the Gates was touted as this super altruistic, good rich person who was all about charity. It was only after I found out about the whole Oxford vaccine thing (indenting my aside/rant)

Gate's urged Oxford to exclusively allow AstraZeneca the rights to their vaccine "rather than sticking to the university’s own guidance that any deal it makes include non-exclusive and royalty-free licensing", a deal with no guarantee of accessibility or affordability. Given that the vast majority of the funding of this vaccine was public funds...fuck that.

that I found out that the Foundation was always just a way to rehabilitate an image of ruthlessness I never knew he had. I guess it worked, given how he was discussed when I was growing up, but hopefully he won't be able to do it again.

Thank you for explaining! I'm almost impressed by how thoroughly I missed the joke.

Bouldering was a breakthrough for me. I didn't like top rope climbing because climbing just felt like an endurance test (admittedly, I was not climbing well) and I found belaying both boring and extremely stressful.

But bouldering feels like solving a puzzle and is something I can do both by myself and socially.

My family were doing a dog sledding trip and my brother came off and hit his head. We ended up putting him on my sled, with my job being to keep him awake in case he had a concussion. So I asked him to explain the rules to Twilight Imperium to me which, luckily and unluckily, took. Hours.

I've never hated, but been glad for, a game I've never played more...

(but I'm glad that you, and my brother, and other people get so much enjoyment from them!)
