Following US billionaire Elon Musk's supportive post for the AfD, CDU MEPs are calling on the EU Commission to investigate the visibility of his posts on the X platform . Numerous users reported that they regularly see Musk's content in their feeds without following him or actively engaging with his posts, write Daniel Caspary, chairman of the CDU/CSU group in the EU Parliament, and MEP Andreas Schwab in a letter. "This raises fundamental questions about the transparency and neutrality of the recommendation algorithms used by X."

El Salvador’s Congress approved Monday a law that would lift the country’s seven-year-old ban on mining for metals.

The law, proposed by President Nayib Bukele and passed on a 57 to 3 vote, would allow mining everywhere except nature reserves and sensitive watersheds. It’s expected to go into law with his approval.

The law bans the use of toxic mercury in gold mining, and would require private companies to enter a type of joint venture with the government to open mines.

Syria's new prime minister, Mohammed al-Bashir, had said last week that the ministry would be restructured using former rebel factions and officers who defected from Bashar al-Assad's army.

That also applied to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, he said.

As the future of warfare pivots towards artificial intelligence, Ukraine is sitting on a valuable resource: millions of hours of footage from drones which can be used to train AI models to make decisions on the battlefield. AI has been deployed by both sides on the battlefield during Russia's invasion of Ukraine to identify targets, scanning images far quicker than a human can.

Oleksandr Dmitriev, founder of OCHI, a non-profit Ukrainian digital system which centralises and analyses video feeds from over 15,000 drone crews working on the frontlines, told Reuters his system had collected 2 million hours, or 228 years, of battlefield video from drones since 2022.

That will provide vital data for AI to learn from.

Seven Chinese citizens were arrested on charges of illegally entering Guam around the time the U.S. Missile Defense Agency conducted a key missile interception test using a new radar, the island's Customs and Quarantine Agency has said.

The agency said at least four of the people arrested on Dec. 10-11 were found "in the vicinity of a military installation". Guam has many such installations, including Andersen Air Force Base, where the Dec. 10 missile test was conducted.

But she’s a self made hard worker!

Sure the lowly paid worker cleaning the stadium she performs at is exploited and yes sure the factory worker sewing her next shirt is exploited, but Taylor earned her billions through her own hard work and she deserves it.
