This has to be bait right?

These arguments are all framed in the western individualist mindset. Just because there is no hope of seeing success in your lifetime is not a reason to help the process forward. Communism will come regardless of what any westerner does. The tides of history don't depend on any one person but that doesn't absolve people choosing to do their duty being part of the tide.

While I partly agree I think you are underestimating the importance of agitprop. Most western leftists can't do much other than agitation and doing so online is a valid method.

Much of the global north is still a long way from popular uprising and at this stage the actions that are needed often don't look much like work compared to the situation in usa where there are physical direct actions are needed.

Pushing the "correct positions" is an important job to avoid people falling to ultras or social fascists.

What if I told you that the lessons of history don't matter? We just need to do harder the thing that has never worked before and not do the thing that has worked in the past.

The fixation on media and over estimating its importance is a symptom of the illness not the cause. I've known people who were seeing the secrets of the universe communicated through road signs and house numbers. How engaging the media is is irrelevant. Most of the time its stress, sleep deprivation, and/or drugs that make this sort of thing happen. (like the guy in the article who just got a new more stressful job)

So to me, a person who has gone through a psychotic break, the stories recounted just sound like an average psychotic break. They just happened to coincide with LLM usage. Its possible that the LLMs fed the break and exacerbated it but they could just as easily have been books or films that pushed them over the edge.

The Race "science" of flat earthers and antivaxers.

Dude you need to work on your reading comprehension. That article is not making fun of the backlash. The backlash isn't mentioned ore even hinted at.

It is making fun of how in 2018 he had a habit of saying and doing racist shit and then half assing an apology and hypothesizing that the next move could plausibly be putting on a kkk robe and then making a bad apology. There is no mention of backlash.

Keep on going. The more you say "this is about stopping the spread of misinformation" and ignoring the fact that pewdiepie is a racist who inspired a literal nazi mass murderer you are just showing your true colors.

[–] Commiejones@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So you are standing up for a racist... to own the magas?

Fascists love to make make false equivalencies.

The difference between misremembering a satirical exaggeration of how extremely racist a proven racist is, is not the same as making up blood libel against immigrants.

See how easy this game is?

Just because fascists can use misinformation does not mean that every piece of incorrect information is a the act of a fascist.

If someone says "a streamer who was canceled after promoting neo-nazi content and saying racist stuff on multiple occasions belongs in a hole made famous by the fact it was used to dispose of the bodies of fascists (not all of them dead)" I think it is safe to assume that person disapproves of fascists. Calling such a person a fascist seems rather ignorant.

Throwing around ablist slurs eh? You and pewdiepie are cut from the same cloth.

This isn't about my misremembering a really good satire bit as fact because it was so close to true. If it was about that you'd accept my appology and my admission that I was mistaken.

This is about you wanting to make it about anything but the fact that he is a racist who lures children into consuming neo-nazi content.

Linking a story and then apologizing when you realize it was satire that mildly exaggerated the truth is pro fascist disinformation? That is probably one of the dumbest things I have heard this week.
