Because they're giant applications that do a lot under the hood that you don't see. Of course you can write your own, we did that during my degree but it was extremely basic.

Search up lots of unrelated content that you enjoy, thumbs it up, subscribe to unrelated channels you like. It will stop doing that. Mine basically only shows video essays an, science, technology and gaming content
