We can hope but I wouldn't bet on it. I just hate that we need to be tied to one company thats known to make drastic changes so having another manufactor would be amazing

Woah ~~8~~ (probably 5 ) guaranteed years of security updates ~~they beat google to it~~ They didnt mention any security hardware updates like a secure element so probably no grapheneos support still though. Be a good travel phone though but dont expect security

Edit: Seems that their security updates will be limited

Wait I'm confused are they going to up it to 8 years now for the 8th gen or is the number of years still up to debate? Either way not bad especially if they keep their current practices of being repairable and third party os friendly

Really appreciate your help I will continue to test everything out with the testing key pair I made but I believe you're right regarding just needing the private/secret key. As for backups, I'll just use the same methods as my password manager vault and keyfiles backups thanks again
