No, that's due to likeness rights and privacy concerns. Copyright protects creative expression and your face and body are not themselves creative expressions-- they just are. This is why you also don't get copyright protection over purely statistical data.

18F was also mandated to work with state and local governments through various grant programs to upgrade their digital infrastructure. It was a great, albeit still not sufficiently supported, program that of course these silly fucking morons got rid of just to replace with one that has enshitification built right in from the start. Republicans are truly the party of enshitification.

Chicago is not DC and I honestly think they're going to get the violence they're probably looking for, but i don't think it will go as well for them as they expect. But anyone who supports and facilitates the current regime deserves a pension plan of a five foot rope and a spot along a bridge so oh well.

No, this is just a really stupid headline. The ITC is specifically a body that bars products found to be infringing from importation into the US market. It cannot allow award damages but the bar can be circumvent by a deal with the patent owner. This is literally the function of this particular body.

This is actually yet another terrible outcome of Israel's genocide from my understanding--the habitability of the entire area is effectively in question due to the sheer volume and degree of devastation that has been wrought. Effectively, even if Israel magically became a non-rogue state today, a resettlement and reparations program is necessary across Israel/Palestine for the survivors.

I think a lot of people do not understand that Zionism actually does have a specific meaning and ideological underpinning spanning the last 150 years. It is not simply the contention that this place over in the Levant should be called Israel and have a bunch of Jews there.

I've been trying to point this and an inevitable follow-on to this that is very hard to articulate well. But keep in mind that the largest and most influential group of Zionists are Christian Zionists right here in the US. They do not give a shit about Jewish culture, but they sure get hard for apocalyptic mythology. At the same time, Jews in the US overwhelmingly vote progressive and are active in progressive politics. By fueling a Jews are Israelis first and foremost narrative, at multiple different levels but including in terms of painting anti-Israel as anti-Jewish, the seeds for justifying deportation of large part of the US organized left and a fulfillment of Christian Zionists' apocalypse boners are planted. Couple that with it becoming more and more possible that anyone will be vulnerable to retroactive stripping of citizenship, and i think any Jews feeding into this narrative should be really fucking worried.

Really? I think it's more that they don't get the social media and news traction that outrageous shit like their (minority extremist) opposition gets. Folks like Lander and Sanders regularly speak out about Israeli atrocities. Myriad organizations like JVP, INN, and more are among the most active organized voices trying to get this shit to stop. Bunds are popping up literally all over the world and fundamentally anti-Zionist and most stand in solidarity with Palestine. This narrative that Jews are silently condoning Israeli ethnosupremecist fascism is a made up one that serves only to benefit a minority of extremists and Zionists.

Yes, you're right. It's a word that is perfectly appropriate here, though, imo.

I dunno, I'm willing to admit I'm wrong and misinterpreted their post, but even rereading it and their other post in this thread really still feels like they're using Jews and Israelis/Zionists pretty interchangeabley.

Richard Stallman, the creator of the GPL, a "copyleft" license. The problem is that Open Source Software is entirely reliant on a strong copyright system to be enforced. There is nothing else that prevents companies from just keeping everything proprietary, even if it's all oss under the hood.
