Never thought I'd be banned from r/Libertarian. On the brightside, I've found a new place to discuss the issues we (mostly) all have in common!
Yeah, it does seem intense without context. What's worse is that you're just reading a description, whereas they (the mods) saw the video.
Sure, but that isn't the issue that's being discussed. Unless I'm reading this whole thing wrong, this has more to do with people excluding others, WHOLLY, because they don't have an iPhone.
I use Telegram for videos also. RCS on Android has been pretty great and image quality hasn't been an issue.
And that's why it was the nail in the coffin.
If you think you're better than me because you have an iPhone and I run an Android, I don't want to talk to you anyway.
People are so fucking petty and elitist over the dumbest fucking things.
Perma banned from r/Libertarian and a 3 day site suspension for saying "The cop would have had to shoot me too after that. Gun or no gun, I would have beat him within an inch of his life until I succumb to my wounds. My dogs are part of my family." In response to a posted video of an Ohio LEO shooting and killing a Golden Retriever in front of her owner, while smiling and wagging its tail. Absolutely horrific watch.
ETA: I still can't get the images from this video out of my head. If you love animals, do not watch it, it will only anger you and upset you for days. I meant what I said and to be banned by a Libertarian sub for saying it was a kick in the balls.
Agreed.
But here we are.
In looking for a replacement for Reddit, I came across this. I'm hopefully optimistic. The last straw for me in a long list of issues that I have with Reddit came yesterday. Lemmy has a long way to go, but I'm moving away from Reddit and will become active here.
Although I'm sure this is highly optimistic, I'd love to avoid the toxic behaviors that were free to grow on Reddit. The most hateful words I've ever read were on Reddit; I'm already seeing it happen here. It would be wonderful if discourse was welcomed here and promoted without all of the toxic back and forth. What was more harmful was a large amount of one-sided bans dealt out by mods of a certain variety. As long as the mods agreed with someone's stance it didn't matter how obscene a comment made, was. Let's try and be better than Reddit in more than one way.
