China is really good at making stuff and as a result their labour costs rose because they had to pay their people more. What did they do? The robotised a lot of it. For America to compete means fewer jobs in America.

Time to block Twitter by whatever name it’s called. The world would be a better place.
After Meta was changing the rules so they could harvest WhatsApp user’s contacts I convinced my extended family to use Signal. They still use Signal because that’s the only way to include me however they all use WhatsApp as well.
The Aussie system was modelled on the Canadian system at the time. It works well as there is somewhere that people can go and get free medical treatment even if there often is a long wait time.

I like the idea of H2 vehicles however when someone explained the economics of how you need to generate the renewable energy to convert to H2 before you can drive the vehicle, the penny dropped. We are struggling to generate enough electricity to retire coal and methane power plants with nothing left to use for unnecessary hydrogen production (it’s effectively doubles the energy needed). It’s better to get on with electrify everything rather go down the hydrogen rabbit hole. We don’t have the time to waste.
Dutton is a hard right conservative. People like him want crack down on everything, wind back social programs like Medicare, get stuck into workers pay and conditions and screw up our relationship with major trading partners (like China). It’s pretty obvious that when he came out with those brain fart policies, he was speaking from the heart. The upshot is that he will revert as soon as he is PM.
The entitled rich tend to think that social services are a waste and everyone should pay their way. They forget that everyone contributes, children, parents, grandparents, great grandparents etc. Everybody has contributed and the system is supposed to help everyone as they need it. Stopping the flow of money is effectively theft. The rich right doesn’t understand the social contract which surprising given the number the claim to Christian.
This bloke’s very clear, capitalism depends on insurance and climate change is making a lot of areas and risks uninsurable. Must be scaring billionaires silly and the rest of us should be too!
It’s an odd thing to do as forests naturally regenerate after fire and you don’t want to mess up the ecology by introducing new species or genetic variants. Definitely cute but odd.
The Morrison government in Australia told all the temporary workers, backpackers, international students, tourists to go home during Covid and Australia is still paying the price of economic dislocation. A lot of these people worked on farms, in cafes, construction, hospitals etc and we had massive problems because him thought they were a burden.
