Looks like the US is not the country of choice anymore. Setting a profile to public means gets to see all those things you that may be embarrassing, career limiting, life threatening etc.

Yep, herd immunity is especially critical for people who have immunity issues or are allergic to vaccines. As an adult with measles you are hoping for the community to have herd immunity to reduce the likelihood of getting all those diseases again all at once.

Which makes it even worse to get as an adult. Think about all the disease history wiped. It’s a case of history repeating itself but much more dangerously.

It is really interesting that when people focus on getting their personal lives in order they loose impetus to take community level action like vote. “a single vote in a recent national election in Canada could be more than 20 times as effective as skipping a long flight” brings it into focus.

Even in Australia where voting is compulsory we see the effect in that voting for non climate change issues is an issue.

They wear the masks so they can’t be identified. They don’t want their kids friends and school friends to know that what they do.
