The problem with subtext is that I can't tell if they're talking about Israel, or if they're a neocon ghoul who wants to nuke Iran. Or the US? Or Russia? The political content is completely lost in the subtext

Genius show, it's a shame I can't find anyone irl who's heard about it

I push it until they are genuinely uncomfortable then back off.

Yes, I think this is usually the right approach. Force them to face the contradiction and cognitive dissonance, but don't shove their face in it. Let them work through it in their own time

The dialectic will continue as it always has. People will be born, experience joy and suffering, and then they will die. Forces of liberation will come into violent conflict with the forces of privilege. You will participate in a brief moment in history, and then that moment will pass. Things will get better and worse simultaneously, while the dialectic churns and transforms the world. Monsters will rise to power, and then they will fall. Everything that appears solid will melt into the air, and new forms of being will appear, rife with their own contradictions. We will all do our small part to change things for the better, elevating the collective human consciousness and combating the injustices of our time. We will all be tempted to indulge and preserve our limited privileges, clinging to the familiar and comfortable. Even within us, the dialectic churns. We will make our choices and live with the consequences. And then we will die.

And everything will be okay

I know there's a lot of good work being done by comrades across the country, which will qualitatively transform into revolutionary party at some point in the future. It will take a lot of work, and I don't mean to project the idea that it is hopeless, but until that future time when there is a visible tent pole for socialism in the US, the vast majority of discontent will be funneled toward fascism. It is highly likely that we will be building socialism on the ashes of a defeated fascist American state and we shouldn't sugar coat that reality

Especially since "normal" people can't distinguish between the Democratic party and the left, so their disillusionment will mostly just push them toward the right. We're in dark times here, without a truly leftist org to crystalize discontent, we're on a one way street to fascism. Even then, Americans are too undisciplined to actually commit to revolution. We will be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century

gold-communist Now that's the kind of oddly specific content I come here for

Nolanization is underselling it, that was a Snyder movie who's so much worse.

It really goes to show that all Alexander "the great" did was copy an already existing empire. The fact that the Greeks are the founders of "Western culture" while the Persians are ignored can only be the result of racism

Yeah because it kills your soul and is 100% "against human nature". It makes sense to have problems putting it in practice when every fiber of your being wants to be a good person and talk to people in real and meaningful ways

Earnest question here. I got offered a job with public works inventory management for a city. I thought it would be limited to just public works, but it also includes inventory for the police fleet. Part of applying was to salt for the municipal workers union. Would doing inventory management partially for cop cars make me a pig?

What's the most you ever lost in an election? You need to call it. I can't call it for you. It wouldn't be fair. It wouldn't even be right. You've been putting it up a coconut tree your entire life, you just didn't know it. You stand to win everything, unburdened by what has been. Do not come in your pocket. Otherwise it will become just another election. Which it is.
