Those two things are not incongruous. Your friend was deceived by the leadership who is in the pocket of oil companies.

Problem being, this won't be like that. This will be significantly worse and likely faster as well. It will not be as driven by human action (in the moment) so much as by natural forces. Maybe some of us will be okay though. I hope.

I have long since written myself off as likely dying in a fight over resources (food, clean water, medicine) with some yokel who still wouldn't believe in climate change. And people act confused when I say I have no motivation at work or hope for the future. Wild shit.

Whole industries in the USA are down almost exclusively by exploited illegal labor.

Can you elaborate on why this would be destabilizing? I mean obviously the president dying is bad, but are there specific groups that are in positions to do anything to cause problems due to this? Wouldn't there be someone under him in the chain of command or another election that could be held?

I do not know very much about Iran's internal politics beyond a basic synopsis, I'm just looking for some info.

Because it can only do that through theft of intellectual property. Also, just because you like using something that will obviously and quickly be used to tighten the shackles around your ankles, doesn't mean that others have to enjoy their chains or lick boots.

I rabidly disagree that there is any more important topic than climate change. If you have read the actual studies and data about it, you would agree with me. If it is not addressed in a timely manner (read: a decade ago, but better late than never) there will be billions dead WITHIN YOUR LIFETIME.

You say that as though the entirety of the DNC leadership didn't unite against Bernie Sanders when he was the clear front runner over Hillary. And again, in 2020. I agree, more people need to vote in the primaries. But there is clearly meddling and coercion happening behind the scenes to ensure an appropriately corporate candidate is selected.

Fair point. It was somewhat confusing I suppose.

It's really not that hard to understand. I will vote this time, to prevent trump. Then I will ensure that there is another choice the next time. In any way I can.

I will hold my nose and vote against a dictatorship but I do understand why people are so FUCKING ANGRY with the DNC for not even trying to find someone who is representative of the Democratic voters. They haven't done so for the last decades and it is getting to point where something serious needs to be done about it. As in, make it clear to those 'in power' that we will make their lives a living hell if they continue to ignore the people.

It's more than insulting. It's disgusting behavior by people who know they can do whatever the fuck they want and no one can say or do anything about it because TRUUUMP!! It's a fucking joke. It's a disgrace to democracy and I will never again vote for Democrats.

This country is in fucking shambles.
