The semi-logical reason that I leave so many tabs open, is that I do need/want the tab now, or in the near future, and keeping it in a tab is sort of like a sticky note to remind myself to do it. It rarely works though and just contributes to a growing sense of anxiety as I'm constantly stared down by a huge row of "to-dos"

This is not a counter-argument, it's a thought terminating cliche.
The way I understand "Smalltalk" is not whether the subject matter is "serious enough" but rather whether either party actually has any interest in it, or if it is a polite nicety to avoid awkward silence.
Discussing the weather in a car ride with a coworker is smalltalk, contemplating with a friend how one might conquer the world using ant-controlling super powers is not.
You (usually) already do, but it's a test of attractiveness, not intelligence :)
How does that make sense, it's just arbitrary numbers. I can give you arbitrary numbers for celsius too: 30 being hot but tolerable, 20 being perfect, 10 being cold but tolerable.

Tbf replacing the police with a bunch of literal dogs might be an improvement
Macht nichts, wenn man schlecht Deutsch hat (wie ich), sind die mai-mais noch besser
Yes but I'm trying to find positives for the OP, not negatives 🤫
If you are looking for silver linings, just look at the positive political effect trump is having in other countries, such as Australia and Canada :)
I don't see how this comic talks about climate change at all. It's basically a long winded way to say "haha some people won't be ready to adopt new tech until the literal apocalypse"
I'm Australian, and I moved to Germany some years ago :)
