A genuine populist revolution will easily be able to pull working class voters from all walks of life

I just don't think this is possible with a 3rd party candidate in our system. You'll never pull GOP voters this way, which means you have to pull a shitload of Democratic voters all in the same direction.

I wholly agree with you the issues with the DNC, but there's a solution: we show up in the primaries. The DNC is corrupt, but they aren't flipping primary votes. We can absolutely elect different people to run the party with enough numbers. And if you can't get enough people to do that with a genuine populist message, how are you ever going to start an entirely new party and convince people to show up?

I'm not telling you "but Trump". I'm telling you the outcome that you said was undesirable IS the desired outcome in this situation. All of Harris' qualifications and platform are wholly irrelevant when comparing her to Trump as to who is the better pick for governance.

Fuck fuck fuckety fuck.

Okay. Then you gotta convince every Democrat and then some to agree to leave the party AND join the same new one in order to beat the GOP in a FPTP system. Or your goal is to dilute the power of the corrupt Democrats instead of eliminating them.

Weeding a single corrupt party is easier than creating an entirely new party while simultaneously competing with two existing corrupt parties in a FPTP system.

I've been contemplating becoming a right wing grifter for several years. It's just too easy.

Not really a desirable outcome.

When Trump is literally the only other option, yes it is. It's incredibly desirable.

Passive voice because you're ignorant. Who will place people in concentration camps?

Listen, just because you haven't paid attention to the things the Trump team has published and said doesn't mean you need to call someone else ignorant.

Theyve already said they plan to use local agencies to assist and anyone refusing would lose their federal funding. There are PLENTY of Sheriffs that would jump on the chance to round people up. Your assumption that the feds, ICE, and CBP won't play ball is completely unfounded. They have people already lined up for positions they need to make this happen. That's on top of Trump's former campaign manager literally saying they want assistance from their followers as "shock troops" for this as well. They've begun targeting sites for new detention centers near large cities. All of this shit you should already know Mr Expert.

You want to make the argument that theyre too incompetent to be successful, fine. That's probably our biggest safety net right now. But acting like it's not possible or that they don't have explicit plans is asinine.

I don't think Wikler is a bad pick. He's done some good work in Wisconsin, I've been on a lot of organizing calls with him.

My main concern would be that he's not aggressive enough. I want someone who's going to go after Republicans with every ounce of force possible. I don't know if Ben is that guy.

This is how EVERY conservative wins.

[–] MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (21 children)

Absolutely. Just don't use that word. The propaganda is so goddamn ingrained in the American psyche we might as well just call it something else and try to bypass that fight.

And he had a bunch of people telling him no along the way. I don't know why people aren't getting this. There. Are. No. Guard. Rails. This. Time.

He already tried a bunch of the shit people are saying he would never do. Now he can do them. Good fucking job.

Like how do you actually make this work?

There's pretty much one solution to this problem, as the Germans found out. These people will be placed in concentration camps while they languish and slowly die.
