If you’ve got the PC Specs for it I’d say go for it. It’s surprisingly stable on Xenia (which is how I’ve been playing it)

If you can get it on Gamepass or PS+ (or something else) i'd advice getting it that way. The game has a 40$ price tag, and while i'm enjoying it, some other people are not due to a lack of content (the game has about 5 game modes and has two more on the way this year). I'd say whether it's worth the price is entirely dependent on how much fun you get out of the main gameplay cycle (though i guess that can be said for most games lol). Me and the two others i play with are hooked on the general gameplay cycle (the escape at the end is one of our favorite parts) but some other people not so much.

The lack of text or voice chat seems like an odd choice. I kind of get the feeling that they meant for this to be played more with friends over random people, and they only added matchmaking because it's standard, i'm not sure about that though

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

How’s the Random matchmaking? I haven’t touched it myself but I am curious how it is

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Not really. It’s something I meant to touch on yesterday (and knowing me I probably forgot to bring up) but there’s very little story outside of the basics.

Generally you’re just told what’s wrong and how to fix it. I’ve been hearing Sam Lake had not much to do with it and it was a way smaller team than usual, which yeah. I can see that for sure.

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I generally avoid reviews until I have played something but I did see the reviews were mixed on Steam also, big fan of remedy too. Though maybe that’s skewing my perspective

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Did they cancel it? I was thinking a few months ago about how I swore I could have remembered someone making a Fallout 4 mod that adds Appalachia but I couldn’t remember for sure

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

It’s definitely gotten better lol. Still got some issues though. I think part of it is just It’s very hard for me to be picky though

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

A best of is something I’ve thought about for one year. Either that or I’d show off some of the rejects bin of screenshots (I always end up taking a lot of photos most of which don’t make it). Both would take a lot of time though so I’m still debating. I should probably decide soon though because I’m reaching a month and don’t want to run out of time

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

It’s how i have all the free time i do lol

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Sackboy a Big Adventure. Absolutely no ill will towards it, and the issue may lie more with me than the game, but it just felt very "okay" for me.

You're all good! I've been thinking about reaching out to the mods myself, but i've been a bit of a fence sitter myself on the matter.

Today's game is some more Minecraft Xbox 360 edition.

I built this bridge and a tunnel leading to the village today so i didn't have to keep climbing over the hills. I planted some trees up at the top of the hill in an improvised attempt to build a barrier around the little lake i built my base next too.

I was planting some torches under my base to keep mobs from spawning and i noticed the lighting on legacy console edition was different, or at least it feels different. It's almost smoother i feel like. It's even more obvious on the gates too. The nerd in me wonders what exactly causes the difference though. (If there is one and it's not a placebo)

I ended the day by taking my Poisonous potatoes down to the beach and just watching for a bit. I wanted to catch the sunset but didn't get a chance so instead i just hung out with the spider. Sadly my spider friend got blown up by a creeper.

Today's game is Fallout 76. Me and a Friend made plans to play this yesterday, he ended up cancelling though since it was late so i played a bit by myself. I didn't do much. I mainly stopped by to pick up a quest from the robot above, decorated my camp, and went exploring.

I gave my camp some wall decorations. Everything was really barren so i figured it would spruce things up a little and make it more vibrant. I could have sworn i had more decorations last time i played. But i guess not. I got this weird thing with the lighting where it all just simplified out and become very solid. It only seemed to persist at my base though. Once i headed out it fixed itself.

Right outside my base was this creepy ass thing. Apparently it's a radstag but i don't remember Radstags having fangs that could stab your eye out. I wonder if they changed the model at some point. Whatever it is though it's kind of sick, in a creepy cool kind of way. I kind of want a plush or figure of one or something.

I also stepped into my basement and decorated that too. I gave it some Snazzy bone wind chimes and reorganized everything a little bit. I moved the table a bit forward so the Entrance to the basement i added in the basement (it leads right back to the basement) had more room. The stairs to no where also got some more space by moving the wall forward a little bit.

The final thing i did was drop by the Winding Path, which is this cool Palace in the northern section of West Virginia. It's really chill and Serene there. I wish the game would let me build a base there tbh, because i love all the water it has going on.

Today's game is some more of Super Market Together. We ended up netting a 4th friend for it and threw an hour into it for fun. For a free game on steam it's surprisingly decent, especially with the lack of microtransactions and what seems to be a low budget. The game does have a weird quirk about figuring out prices that can make it a bit difficult, but we mostly optimized it with the formula MarketPrice * 2 - 0.01. That seems to rake in good money while still not being considered expensive by people.

As you can see in the screenshot above, i expanded my Water Shelf from being Scattered to having its own sign. My friends ended up giving up on stopping me. Now they let me spend the 60$ to get the water to restock my water shelf weekly, in return i stop letting the water spread to other shelves.\

We've started getting this big problem with people just bunching up near the freezer in a group. I'm assuming there's something absolutely fascinating about the Freezer just because of how many people gather there. Maybe it's something about the cheese? I'm not sure.

At one point i stepped outside to get a picture of the store (to use for the main screenshot, though i decided to use the Water Shelf instead). While i was picking some screenshots though i discovered that someone was actually shop lifting from my store. You can tell by the icon above their head. They got away with it, so good play i'd say. Neither me, nor my friends caught them.

I also found this hidden cat just chilling on a landing. We spotted it from the ground and exploited the games wonky physics to get up there and pet it. I ended up getting an achievement for petting it. This is the second cat i've seen so i'm assuming this game really loves it's cats.

Today's game is some more REPO. We spent a lot less time actually playing though and instead sat down on the couch while i explained the lore of Lord of The Rings to a friend that joined us. The Screenshot was taken from then. Of course, when we got to Saruman, we had to take a detour to then explain the Star Wars Prequel trilogy after we brought up Count Dooku. The entire level was basically spent doing just that. Lore dumping about Lord of The Rings and Star Wars. When i had to explain the Silmarillion we stopped there though.

At one point, we were in the Art Museum level. In it theres these stairs that are freakishly tall. While descending it my impulsive thought won and i hit another friend with a statue i was holding. I got to watch them tumble down the long flight of stairs.

Our run ended up being ended by this brat though, after he hit me with an object and shoved me into a robe. For people who haven't played this baby basically picks up objects and chucks them. Sometimes at players. Everyone else died trying to get to me to either A Robe or an Upscream (which can seriously fuck up our runs)

Our party of 3 became a party of 2 though by the end of the night. One of our players went to bed and the other rage quit after being sniped by the Huntsman. In the good news though i managed to kill the Huntsman. I plopped his core into the Cart and tucked it away under the Shelf.

Not that it really mattered though as shortly after i got knocked into a pool of lava by my friend (really felt like Anakin there). He ended up following suit since it was the beginning of the level and we were down 2 players. He figured starting over was the best call.

We ended up stopping for the night though after i carried the other two after the clown caught them cuddling and killed them. We didn't want to push it (and it was late) so we called it quits. Not before i got a picture of the two lovebirds cuddling though.

Today's game is some more Minecraft Xbox 360 edition. I decided today to go mining and dove head first into the cave right outside my home

It turns out it all leads entirely to dead ends though. I did find the neat cavern in the screenshot above which i kind of want too turn into a nether portal chamber when i finally find diamonds. It's crazy how rare diamonds used to be. Modern Minecraft really has spoiled me lol. I feel like i can get a diamond by the end of the first day sometimes. Here i feel like i really have to search.

Another thing about this is that i've found an appreciation for is what i have started calling the art of "do". I noticed i have been Meta-Gaming a lot when i play minecraft to the point i'm more obsessed with how to effectively do something rather than enjoying doing it. So instead i will just "do" the thing. No consideration for math or optimizing it or even stopping and constantly checking to see if it looks good.

Take my treehouse for example, i just cut down a tree, built a staircase, and built a room at the top of the staircase. Later i said "i want a window" and impulsively added a window. I guess in summary it's just very much me being impulsive with very little to no planning outside very broad ideas (though i guess now that i'm describing this there's a lot of holes in it lol). I'll also add this isn't me condemning people who do think these things through in depth, this is just a way that i've found for me to more personally enjoy these. Cutting Meta-Gaming out in general has made me start enjoying games a lot more.

Going back to the cave, i found another one nearby which i decided to mine in. It was buried under a ton of trees but on my way out i used torches to mark the entrance. I started to clear the trees too but ran out of food and wanted to get mining out of the way first.

Initial prospects were good. Tons of iron and coal was in the main tunnel which i collected. I was going to go deeper but there was a skeleton and i had lost my iron sword at some point. I back tracked and went home, slept, and made a new one.

I returned and slew the skeleton that had attacked me. It dropped it's bones, so maybe i'll get a wolf at some point or something. A creeper also helped defeat it by blowing it up but sadly it didnt drop gunpowder.

Going further down i discovered a ton more coal which i promptly mined. I stopped here momentarily to replace my pickaxe so i could mine more stuff because it was starting to run low. Luckily i had some wood on me to make a table and some sticks. I didn't end up going to much deeper though because i ran out of torches and didn't want to use up all my coal, so i turned around and headed home.

On my way back i stopped by my farm before logging off for the day. Everything is growing well. Maybe next time i play i can get my first full harvest and start the second one along with maybe expanding it. I have some meat saved it up to eat so i think i could afford to spend a harvest to expand it.

Today's game is The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks. I was stuck in a car for a bit today and had my 3DS on hand, so i booted this up to play it. The 3DS is why these images are so pixelated (low screen resolution) and why there's so few of them (i had to connect to my 3DS as an FTP Server, extract the tar archive that the TwilightMenu++ saves them too, convert them too a PNG since the images are in bmp format, and then upscale the pictures one at a time with a pixel up scaling application (it has to be a specific one because a lot of generic image upscalers now use AI upscaling which will absolutely butcher a pixelart image in my experience, especially one so low resolution). And even with all this fancy stuff some of the pictures did not turn out well, such as this lovely one where everything is a little fuzzy still because of how pixelated it is:

I had this game on the DS Lite, though i never really understood what was going on until i played it again as an adult. I had one save i remember prominently that was at the Tower of Spirits. I'd just load into that as a child and dick around in there for a while and get scared by the Phantoms. That tower's lobby theme is forever ingrained in my head as what i associate as "DS Music" just because of how memorable it is for me. I'm literally listening to it as i type this now lol.

It's a short but fun Zelda game, controls take some getting used to though. One of my favorite parts is that Zelda takes on the role as the "companion character" and actually joins link for the game (she's also probably one of my favorites next to Navi). It's something i wish was done more often because i really like their friendship in this game. Being able to control Zelda and take over Phantoms makes her actually involved in the Gameplay and puzzle solving which i love.

The train being the primary method to get around is a fun compromise for me with the DS's limited power. I honestly have a lot of fun just driving the thing around from location to location and will try to park it perfectly and everything.

I desperately wish this game got a remake just so i could drive the train on more modern hardware (and obviously experience it all over again) and not have to break out the DS just to play. It's one of those Niche Zelda games that i feel like people forget about sometimes and it can be hard for people to get into with how many compromises it made, so i doubt it will ever get a remake. But i can dream. i feel like Minish Cap was also like that for a while until it became the Zelda "Deep Cut" i see a lot of people suggest it as, so who knows. Maybe Spirit Tracks will one day get it's chance.

Today's game is some more of the oblivion remaster. I did some more of the Mage's guild quest today and the specific quest took me a to a ruin. I have very vivid memories of this specific dungeon because of the puzzle from a few years ago when i did a brief playthrough with a friend. It was very tedious having to open the inventory and find the book again. Luckily i found out i could quick bind a book which made this a lot faster. It did take me a while though to realize i had to cast a spell on the Central Pillar and not the crystals. And i did it all for a Elven Helmet that the mage's guild wants for some reason. Not even a Magic one. Just a plain old Helmet.

I'm not usually a fan of these ruins, or dungeons in general. But damn does the remaster makes these dungeons look pretty. The blue light beams and shadows are a gorgeous effect.

There was also a quest before this which had me meant the count of the area. Dude came outside to meet me and he's a vampire, and i have to say i'm a big fan of the Vampire designs in the Remake. He has a very corpse like design which i like. His lips and mouth being blue are my favorite part. I've heard on players it sadly just makes their face look lethargic which is a little disappointing but it is cool to see the NPCs get a cool design. I accidentally left the poor guy idle in conversation while i answered a call for a bit. He was probably worried the sun was going to rise before we finished talking.

The count's castle had this painting up of an painting in the old oblivion style which i think is kind of neat. I stopped to look at it for a bit. I can't figure out who it's supposed to be but I like to imagine that old Oblivion is a stylized art style in the remaster's world. It's a fun thought. Maybe if the game existed it'd be kind of like that movie about Vincent van Gogh called Loving Vincent?

Today's game was Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. I went ahead and built a farm for my Jungle Tree House. We have Potatoes and Wheat growing. I went and ransacked the local village looking for Carrots but they didn't have any sadly. I'll have to look around for some to complete my farm. I also need Melons and Pumpkins. Both of which should be a little easier to get. Carrots i think Zombies can drop and Dungeons.

On my way back from the village there was a ravine i found. There was a cow and sheep standing on the edge which i pushed in to gather drops (and save durability) and going down i found a good 12 pieces of iron (I used it to make a second bucket and an iron hoe for my farm to make life easier)

I also made plans to explore a cave right outside my house, but the moment i stepped foot in there a skeleton fired an arrow and i backed out. I thought it would be pretty safe because it's surface level but i guess not. I'll have to make some armor and torches and head into the cave to light it up so this doesn't bite me in the ass later. Because i totally could see it doing so.

I ended up winding down for the evening by redecorating the treehouse. I rearranged the vines a little bit because they were starting to overgrow. I left one streak just covering the front of the window specifically though. It was a relaxing way to relax for the evening. Just redecorate the house. Honestly old minecraft is just a relaxing way to chill. Modern Minecraft has a little to much going on where i feel like there are now constant threats. It's not a bad thing, it just changes the context i play in. Being able to kick back and say "Okay, i have 10 minutes to do the creative stuff, then i can sleep or do the combat if i want too" is really chill.

Today's game is Super Market Together. I found it randomly on the Steam Store, saw it was multiplayer, and it was free so i figured "eh, why not blow an evening with a friend running a grocery store". We intially called our store TwoBros, but we had a third friend join us so we were due for a rebrand:

And we became ThreeBros instead. Around this time we all agreed the sign kind of looks like the Logo to a Men's Strip Club. We're hoping that brings in customers.

We also hired a guy we named Danny to run the register for us. Danny legit saves us so much time, so to show our appreciation (and since i can't pay him more) we bought him a frog painting and a Potted Plant (along with a TV for the Break Room).

I decided for our inventory that we should appeal to a broad market. And you know what the Broadest market is? Everyone. And you know what Everyone drinks? Water. So i bought a shit ton of water and stocked a few shelves with it. The Shelf above is only 1/4 of the Water we have, and we have more in the back. Sadly my water plan isn't working, and people seem more interested in Soda and Tea. I spent $500 on Water Alone. If anything though i can rest assured that no one will be going thirsty.

Towards the end of our 6th day in business we had a shoplifter stealing a 12 pack of soda so i grabbed a broom and hit the guy into the street (granted i do this to everyone). If it was water i could understand, we've got so much anyways. But that Soda is expensive as hell and isn't a basic human right. He was fine and walked it off, then went inside and started bitching that we didn't have Black Tea, only Lemon Tea.

Our store also has a cat outside the break room. I want to move it inside but can't figure how (or if i even can) move it. Our Break Room also has a Prison Cell with only a sink for some reason. I don't know what kind of Kinky Stuff my Employees (both Danny and my Two Friends) are getting up too, but as long as it's all clean and everyone is safe then i don't want to know. We bought them a Table for their Break Room too and want to get them a Fridge.

Today's game is Oblivion remastered. I went ahead and cleared any excess saves i wasn't using and have started overwriting saves instead of making new ones in an attempt to mitigate the crashes. It seems to have helped, but i can't say for sure. I went ahead and did some more of the Mages Guild questline and got accepted. Bruma was the very last one i did.

I have to say i feel like these quests range from mundane household chore to playing cop for the Mages Guild. The Bruma one had me go locate a missing person, which turned out to be some guys just pranking the Guild Master.

One of the guys looks kind of like an uncle i had to the point the resemblance is kind of uncanny. I think it's the Mustache and the Hair. From what i understand he dies at the end of the Mage's guild questline though which kind of sucks.

There was another quest where i had to recover a tome for either this lady or the mages guild. I chose the mages guild because i trust them over this random lady to handle a magic spell book. On my way back she was chilling in front of the mages guild waiting for me. I snuck around from the back but there was an awkward few seconds were we made eye contact while i was entering the Mage's guild. I went up and talked to her after and she got a little offended when i told her i won't steal the book back for her.

The Mage's guild quest has you also steal back a staff stolen from another mage by this guy who likes her. Not to White Knight for this random Oblivion NPC but damn did this guy get on my nerves. Not in a "i'm now in a bad mood" way, but in a "I don't think i like this guy" way. Badgers this person that doesn't like him, Steals her stuff, then when he feels bad about it, instead of saying sorry and giving it back, he just sells it. It's the kind of thing you'd expect a middle schooler to pull, not a grown man.

Another thing, The mages guild that this quest takes place is so weirdly designed. it's the Bravil mage's guild and it's built like 4 stories tall and looks like it could fall over. I actually really like how weirdly vertical it is, but it is funny how unsafe it looks (at least to me). I once watched a video of a guy going through a Counter Strike Map and comparing it to the OSHA handbook, would love to see something similar for this game now that i think about it, probably would take forever though.

The last thing i did was stop by the Arcane University and construct my staff. I did a staff of Speechcraft because i am in no way a magic build and it was really the only one i could see myself benefiting from. It is really cool that they let you build your own staff though, even if it's limited. I do wish it was as indepth as the spell crafting though. Would be sick to be able to make a staff with that much freedom.

Today's game is R.E.P.O. This game has probably become the go to multiplayer game for my group there's no plot to follow so we don't have to worry about everyone attending and most of my friends have a copy. Not to mention the rounds are quick so we can pop in for 1 or 2 and pop out. I chose the main screenshot because of the way we stacked all the stuff. It's a damn nice stacking job if i do say so myself.

The game got a newer update, so along with a bunch of cool new shit there's been some reworks too. The latest has been that you can only hold enemies for so long. I think they also reworked the pathfinding AI a little bit. Before i could block a hallway with a door like above and they would turn from the door i feel like. Now they just go straight through it. I lost a major strategy there, but at least i can still use it to slow enemies down. I've started using it too make makeshift alarms because most enemies will attack the door. The only one i don't think will is the Huntsman. I haven't seen him walk into it though so maybe he doesn't ignore it.

One thing this game needs is just a straight up battle mode. Me and my friends spend too long in the Shop dicking around and killing eachother (which is what we're doing in the screenshot above). The game already has a battle mode for if everyone dies, so the code is mostly there i imagine. Now that i'm thinking about it a few misc. modes wouldn't be such a bad idea. Maybe like a hide and seek one? A grocery store map would be sick too. I've been saying that for a while. Or like a IKEA inspired one.

Our shop fights have turned us also into trappers as we've started setting traps for each other all over the place. My personal favorite is to hide it behind a door to the bathroom because people will walk through the door and detonate it. I'll also set one on the truck and when someone comes out and carelessly jumps over it they'll blow up. I had one friend try and set a trap using a wall of carts and then a wall of mines behind it. It nearly ended up getting me when i tried to set it off to get through. But it ended up back firing and killing another friend instead.

I've also started walking up to friends and handing them a grenade i primed and asking them to "hold this". Most of the time they'll realize it's primed and toss it, but one of my friends i handed a grenade and asked him to hold it and he just kept holding it. His reasoning was that he "didn't think it'd blow up if he kept holding it". It in fact did blow up and killed him.
