I don't want to come across as a mysogynist or a misanthrope but this "It's your fault that you're lonely because you're a trash human that nobody wants to sleep with" infuriates me, because I get that shit enough from my own head without it coming from outside as well.
I don't want to just sleep with someone, I want to be able to comfortably enjoy my time with people I like and then maybe meet someone likeminded enough to build a relationship with.
I have a few friends, and spend time with them whenever I can, but 99% of my time is spent working or at home recovering from work.
I know there's the whole "You have to get out there and socialise." and "Get a hobby and you'll meet new people." But how does a single man even approach people without coming across as weird or creepy?
For obvious reasons I should probably clarify that I'm aware my brain doesn't work like regular people's do, and am probably doing the same shit as the old "people online; 'Having throw pillows makes you part of the bourgeoisie' / People irl; 'Hey man how's it going?' " tweet, but god damn if it isn't hard to have the confidence to meet people irl when all you see is things like the 'bear in a forest' trope and news stories about violent abusers reinforcing negative self bias.
Who knows. Maybe I just need to throw my nightmare rectangle off a cliff and buy a phone that only does 4 things, text, call, tell the time and play snake.
Genuinely there needs to be a fee that companies must pay for the pollution they create, with it written into law that they can't palm the cost off on their customers.
We need to move shipping away from the 'barely more refined than crude oil' fuels they use
We need to ensure protection of the oceans by making it so that outflowing waste from industry never reaches the watercourse in the first place.
Single use plastics need to be removed from the supply chain (alternatively changed at the production level so they're made from plant cellulose or a material that doesn't break down into PFOAS or microplastics)
We also need to block petrochemical companies from lobbying or interfering with politics, and prevent them from funding smear campaigns against renewable energy sources
Grabbing a slow cooker and recipes for hearty stews is a solid starting point - only prep work is chopping veg and adding spices, chopped tomatoes are a good base for almost everything that involves a "chuck it in the pot" recipes. After it's cooked the only thing you need to do is cook some rice or pasta to finish off the meal.
Alternatively training your brain to think 'If I don't cook a meal for myself I'm only going to feel worse tomorrow' helps (Only slightly hypocritical coning from a guy that reached the point where my health was in serious decline during the worst times of not eating, and despite wanting to die I know I have to eat every day.)
I don't know, everything I do could be silly, but it's normal to me
+1 for Miniminuteman and Explosions/Extractions
Got a few science and tech channels; Tech Ingredients - in depth breakdowns of semi advanced technology from the perspective of a guy that can explain every step, how to build it yourself it and how to modify it to be better, may be a lecturer or just a very knowledgeable engineer. (most recent vid was building an underground heatsink to turn an inefficient window aircon unit into an absolute beast of a cooler, channel has also made DIY Graphene and ultra reflective paint for passively cooling buildings)
AvE - 'Good old uncle bumblefuck' a guy that takes apart tools and goes through the good the bad and the ugly. Occasionally posts machining videos, often amusing breakdowns of cheap tools.
Bigclivedotcom - Scotsman that buys ebay electronics and shows the good the bad and the ugly of how they're made/what will kill you if it gains a fault.
Acorn to Arabella; A climber with access to a few generations old woodland, hand builds a boat from a 1920s design, learns to sail and sets off on an adventure (currently out sailing, lots of very satisfying build videos such as melting lead over a bonfire and pouring a multi-tonne keel.
Still tech-y but more lighthearted; Nilered - Modern day equivalent of a mad scientist, has made alcohol from toiler paper, grape soda out of nitrile gloves and cherry soda out of tolulene.
William Osman - the most ADHD of adult neurodivergents, currently trying to make a farm in his back garden (where the ground is 90% sand) He runs Open Sauce, which is a technology and creator convention. Also wrote a tv show called Scare the Coyote
StyroPyro - another mad scientist but with lasers this time, builder of the macrowave - a microwave so overpowered it can melt tungsten and make plasma out of almost anything instantly. Sometimes goes storm chasing.
How to sew - not just for repairing clothes, but also for the eventual necessity when there aren't any surgeons left after the resource wars.
Keeping your basic first aid skills up to date with courses is genuinely worth every penny you spend on it.
How to tie a simple set of knots - fig 8 and bowline for making loops, also a clove hitch and a reef knot for attaching two lines together are solid starting points
Also knowing what to have in an emergency kit and how to not freeze to death if the heating goes out are very important https://youtu.be/GXYdQJsJ2JE https://youtu.be/AMU1yu5QnNI
There's a few guides out there for speedrunning between some of the top tier map zones and events, always worth seeing how much mileage you can get out of a character before the reset, I say speedrunning, but there's no need to rush events, especially since there's always that bit of silliness to be found if you look
Christ just hearing about some of the old versions boggles the mind.
Like what were the devs smoking with that patch where they went 'fkit, 50% of the map is ice fields a mile tall, where the not-even-a-boss mobs are double your size or four times your stat level, and the other 50% is either verdant jungle or arboreal forests where gank predators are literally in the trees waiting to crit both eye sockets with their canines and open your head like a tin of beans.' absolute hog wild shit
(Genuine testament to the playerbase that they levelled enough to build multiplayer bases and sculpt the totems to reach endgame)
Return it. Tell the company you bought it from that the delivery driver threw it at your door and that you tested it, found unacceptable defects, want a replacement and will not accept another delivery that is handled carelessly.
To me, it doesn't matter who delivers what, it could be a foam yoga block for all I care, if I catch them throwing it they're being thrown under the bus for not doing their job properly.
From. Just catching up on season 3 before season 4 comes out.
