Also, the irony of the US pointing at China and saying things like "the party picks the leaders", "it's not a real democracy" etc etc.

You WILL vote for Biden and you WILL like it!

I will personally ban anyone who unironically supports Trump. Supporting hardcore reactionaries is reactionary behavior and not allowed.

But, I think we enjoy, in a sort of dark humor way, the ways that he spotlights the contradictions and flaws in our system. There's also an almost incredulous hilarity to the things he is coincidentally right about sometimes, like making American foreign policy less hawkish.

I was taught this at one point (though I'm not Christian), but isn't the existence of such a gate irrelevant since the meaning of the phrase is unchanged? Like, either way, the point is that a camel is too big to get through the thing.

Thoughts on the use of geographic domains for vanity purposes? I know that's come up recently as a topic of concern (including with lemmy, specifically), and personally, it seems like it's both extremely widespread and also maybe shouldn't have become super widespread given the actual implications.

oooo this sounds intriguing. do you know if it'll still work with, like, a modest amount of oil? or is the tons of oil basically necessary to achieve the artery-clogging deliciousness of Alfredo sauce?

I sometimes wish I'd gone to law school just so I could turn the tables in situations like this.

"On behalf of your former tenant, we're prepared to offer you a settlement of $3000. It's a very generous offer and I suggest you take it. The legal battle could draw out for years and get very expensive."

A police officer sued to challenge the legislation, at the behest of the governor, whose lawyers are helping the challenge (at a cost to the public). And it was heard by a judge appointed by the same governor. We do love our representative democracy, don't we folks.
