unless you're ready to spend hours of your day doing research online scraping ancient fourm posts so solve "weird issue the car is having #1356" and then spending the rest of the day using your garage full of tools that you definitely have to fix said issue, dont buy a car as old and run-down as that one.

I own a 199x honda integra with 25x,xxx miles on it, its a phenomenal car and runs fantastic, but god damn if it sometimes doesnt throw the strangest issues at me. many of which stemming simply from the fact its over 25 years old and parts age and degrade.

like i tell all my non-car-person friends, dont get a project car unless you want to be poor forever

basially, unless you know what you're getting into, and are ready to become a car-person, dont.

truely baffling that the OG pentium from the 90s was the last true CISC x86 processor from intel. the pentium PRO and pentium2 onwards are risc cores under the hood

struggling with the exact same issue myself, looking for a new laptop but all the "linux first/FOSS friendly" options have zero low-to-mid range options leaving only a couple different 2000 dollar options to pick from which is just way too much money for me to be spending on a laptop.

i guess ill be sticking with my modded thinkpad t440p for the time being, its age is beginning to show but it still gets the job done as a web browser and media watcher

nice driving! im interested in this even though im pretty mediocre at sim racing.

tangentim a pretty good driver IRL (dont tell the cops) but in sim racing i just suck a lot by flying off turns, understeering a bunch, and fishtailing, probably coz i cant "feel" it the same way i do irl and the paradigm is different

closest i can get you is this theme and collection of scripts for the XFCE desktop https://github.com/grassmunk/Chicago95

ive used it in the past for my own nostalgia purposes and it does re-create the effect pretty damn good, though it does get funny sometimes when you throw in non-GTK apps (or if they have the extra thick title bar, GNOME style, (god i hate GNOME))

another option in a similar vein is nsCDE https://github.com/NsCDE/NsCDE which attempts to re-create the CDE desktop look-and-feel from 90s and early 2000s UNIX workstations

ive used this one too and the paradigm shift in how to use a desktop can definitely be felt if you've only ever used windows-style environments. it takes some getting used to but the aesthetics are very nice
