Also the weird fixation with perfectly manicured lawns with absolutely no debris and no plants touching any other plants.

They like to lay their eggs on leaves and grasses on the ground. Doesn't mix well with lawn mowers and rakes.

I used to mow my parents property, and I would leave about 1/4 acre unmowed on the side, touching the treeline. They had so many fireflies hanging around the tall grass over the summers.

This summer I moved too far to keep mowing, and they don't leave anything, and have been complaining they haven't seen any fireflies all summer.

It could be a sign they're gearing for all out war economy in preparation of a massive offensive on multiple fronts....

Or it could be a sign their already not great corruption-riddled military absolutely screwed the pooch in terms of (not) maintaining things and pocketing the money, and now to compensate for what needs replaced as well as current losses, a large portion of their economy has to be diverted in order to keep from being completely demolished on the front lines.

In no way does that mean "Russia is facing imminent defeat", just that they have to focus on making guns and ammo to replace what's being lost and can't focus on other things right now.

Guillermo Del Toro, Roland Emmerich, Ishiro Honda, and Adam Wingard all team up (successfully) to make a Godzilla movie where he and Kong fight Zilla from the 1998 Godzilla movie and a hoard of sprogZillas

Or a horror movie set in the Warhammer 40k universe, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and Ridley Scott. Possibly tyranids, but there are so many horror aspects to choose from...

I used to work for a company that did background checks on every employee, and supposedly couldn't hire anyone with a record over some kind of contracts.

Didn't change the fact that several of my coworkers were ex-cons.

The cruelty is the point

My sister in law had a meltdown last thanksgiving that included screaming at her husband, and storming off to her bathroom to spend the rest of the day (up until food, and then she demanded someone bring her a specific selection on a plate) in a jacuzzi tub. The whole house reverberate when it's on, it's quite annoying.

The absolutely soul-crushing, terrible, impossibly bad thing that happened?

Her husband grabbed the wrong shade of blue curtains from the closet, and she had to wait an extra 90 seconds to put them up. Legitimately don't understand how he's stayed married to her for 15 years. Apparently she's always been like this to him over the smallest bullshit.

I suppose if you've got appropriately strong nets, you could corral everything closer to a spot with easier access with only a handful of boats (theoretically just one, and an anchor point)

Lol imagine being beholden to constant internet or having to pay for your music...

Me, 5 seconds ago: Oh, well the lake here in Ohio has a lot of debris in it too, I'm sure it's not that baHOLY SHIT THAT'S SO MUCH

It almost looks like I could go walk across the surface.

That's an insane amount. How do you even go about cleaning it all up? A bunch of small boats and guys with rakes, or do you look into transporting a trash barge with a crane and have dump trucks haul it all away?

Won't be quick or easy, that's for sure.

The system is working as it was designed.

It just wasn't designed for so many idiots.
