Keep in mind the Republicans are evolving beyond Trump, and this New Right is a real threat.

Case in point, that story earlier this week about Republican thinks tanks funding anti-education, anti-trans, anti-race mixing efforts, which stokes their culture war in ways that have and will continue to provoke real people to act in violent and harmful ways.

Was the cup holding the canned air a failed print you just used as a shallow cup?

I'm in Austin Texas. We installed a fence three years ago and the posts between the gate door have shifted about four inches. This makes closing the door a pain in the ass, as the latch quickly becomes misaligned. A few times a year I move the latch bracket down to align it with the other part of the latch. My fence post is full of holes, and along with the constant slamming necessary when it gets out of line, it has started splitting.

How do I end this cycle? How do I keep it from moving so much?

Nothing to add, but this is a wildly distopian thread.

But I need sunscreen or my stupid Irish skin will turn into a big lump of cancer anyway.

Since I've begun "trying" in the kitchen, I eat way healthier than ever before, and most of my meals are better and cheaper than restaurant equivalents.

Anyone have the backstory here?

Why be frustrated? This person just saved you a boring evening.

I think we got to a point in corporate comms where everyone decided we have to post at a regular interval, even when there's nothing interesting happening.

This feela like a good time to revaluate what we do on social. I have thought about standing up an instance, but realistically we have our internal Teams that employees use... So they wouldn't use it, and I can't imagine myself subscribing to a bunch of company instances, so it seems like it's an effort for nobody.

That said we often put on community events like hackathons. I think situations like that are perfect for posting on our cyber security servers.

Less white noise trash is better.

I was recently asked by my employer if we should move our social media efforts to fediverse and my recommendation was that this community it's both too small and also would be hostile (rightly) to corporate empty posting.

As soon as threads has a web interface that's usable I will be starting up there...

You put your recycling in the blue can, compost in the green can and your corporate garbage on Meta.

I keep getting errors when trying to visit new communities. Definitely growing pains, but its much more full featured than the rest, from what I've seen.

I'm currently wait listed. Is there a way to get Boost now?

One thing I missed during the reddit era was user avatars. I always found it much easier to recognize posters this way. The lack of avatars next to a post made that whole era feel faceless. I'm glad avatars are included in profiles, and I think they should be brought back into the main UI.

I currently use Connect on Android, which puts a small (10x10px approx) avatar next to names. It would be cool to have an option to enlarge this, but it seems like a step forward.

I guess I've never run scripts in Firefox.

Most of us are Reddit refugees, and probably clicking more random links than we ever did before on websites we've never seen before. This whole experience feels like the old internet, but also throws up insane red flags with a modern internet perspective. What are the cybersecurity weaknesses we should all be looking for, and what are the best practices?

Here's my reason for posting this. As I search for new communities across instances to follow, I sometimes end up clicking a link and I'm no longer logged in. In the corner, that could be a Sign In link or it could be phishing. It's likely due to me not understanding how to properly navigate this system, but there's nothing stopping someone from setting up a sight like this as far as I know.

Thoughts?
