Tabasco is the only US product I (very) regularly buy. It isn't that strong so you've got to put like 20% of a small bottle each meal but I've tried many hot sauces and it's the one I prefer, specifically because of its taste. Also many others I've tried, like Sriracha, were very salty.

Enough people have bullied me about it for me to conclude I probably have shit taste in that respect but I don't care, I like my tabasco.

Once they had the green variety at my local shop so I tried it out of curiosity but that one is shit, I don't recommend it.

The condescending stare / ignoring you occurs about half the time even when you pspsps your own cat and you're at home, nevermind a cat that doesn't know you outside

Strange quarks ? Color charges ? Gluon field strength tensors ?

I mean it's become pretty obvious they're making it up as they go along

Macron is managing to exceed his previous levels of fascism to a point that is remarkable. In speeches recently:

  • He said that France needed a "demographics rearmament" - meaning "make babies, you fucks".
  • He said that "order goes along with progress, authority with emancipation, they're inseparable, it's always been true".
  • He wants all schoolchildren to wear uniforms.

Also he recently said in Davos that France would make it much harder to obtain unemployment benefits - that's after a battery of similar measures those past few years that already made it incredibly harder. They also opened a denunciation online platform where employers can signal when someone unemployed refused a new job, in order to eventually remove their unemployment benefits.

yea

I did, years ago, it worked perfectly. This was when DX9 was an option for it though, but given since then dxvk / etc. came out the DX11 renderer should not be an issue. In fact I'd be surprised if the game didn't run as-is without any tweaks.

I suggest using the gog version. appdb suggests installing vcrun2010 might be needed but again, test beforehand.

These days the GNU rm specifically warns you and asks you to confirm before proceeding

One of the multiple lemmy newcomers that defederated from us; in their admins' words, because we apparently "deny certain genocides".

@suspended@lemmy.ml what "genocides" would those be exactly ?

What's the browser you're using ? and also please do:

glxinfo|egrep -i "^direct"

You're looking for a line that says "direct rendering"; specifically whether or not it says "yes". This will help pinpoint if you're actually using your GPU or some onboard chipset instead.

With that being said, even assuming you use the latter, stuttering video playback in the browser is weird; if using firefox, out of curiosity: try to disable or enable hardware rendering (options > advanced > general), and try again. Switch it back to what it was when your test is done.

Kraken, also by Mièville, is also somewhat of a match; as well as Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.
