Tabasco is the only US product I (very) regularly buy. It isn't that strong so you've got to put like 20% of a small bottle each meal but I've tried many hot sauces and it's the one I prefer, specifically because of its taste. Also many others I've tried, like Sriracha, were very salty.
Enough people have bullied me about it for me to conclude I probably have shit taste in that respect but I don't care, I like my tabasco.
Once they had the green variety at my local shop so I tried it out of curiosity but that one is shit, I don't recommend it.
Yeah red Tabasco definitely has its place in my cupboard. I just consider it a spicy vinegar not a hot sauce. But in its role as spicy vinegar I do use it all the time to add a light heat to a vinaigrette or when macerating shallots etc.
