The concept is that you don't have to politely sit quietly and listen while someone spouts hate. You are empowered and encouraged to make it stop. That doesn't necessarily involve physical violence but it should remind you that hate can weaponize the rules of polite society and you don't have help.

Most people don't run into any issues with mods online. If you're constantly running into "asshole" authority figures in online communities it might be you...

It's primarily private insurance (at least in the US) that drives that. The doctor can prescribe something and then a "doctor" who works for the insurance company can take a 10 second look at it and deny it outright in favor of a more profitable treatment.

Should just transfer them to another one in the next town over after a paid 3 month leave.

Back in grandma's day (in the US at least) women were financially trapped in their marriages by a system that wouldn't allow them to get credit cards or open bank accounts without their husband's permission, even if they worked. Having a small stash allows a person to choose to be in a marriage, not be forced.

It's outdated advice but it comes from a good place.

Can we stop pretending language models know things?

I think it's a typo and they mean the decrease in gravitational force goes from exponential to linear, but continues decreasing.

I have to believe an experienced holodeck user would be able to detect some of the telltale signs pretty easily. Like replicated food, if you see it enough you probably notice "holodeck vase #5" showing up scattered around the background of scenes as clutter. Or even minor visual distortions where it switches from 3d to the false horizon.

Food is full of water and takes a lot of energy to heat up. The plate is thin and made of easily heated material like ceramic or glass.

In the short term, only the children of the wealthy could continue into higher education. Anyone else who had dreams of doing anything that required higher ed, including professions that are already in short supply like doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, would be SOL. I can see how "starve the beast" makes an appealing, easy to understand fix for the issues in higher education, but I think the cost to people is too high to do it like that.

I agree. Political cartoons as a medium are way too verbose. They draw a bunch of very clear symbolism and then go back over and label everything anyway.
