Der World Happiness Report 2024 hat aufgezeigt, dass in Deutschland (und in einigen weiteren westlichen Staaten) die Unter-30-jährigen inzwischen die unglücklichste Alterskohorte sind, entgegen dem globalen Trend. Bis 2013 waren die Jungen noch am glücklichsten, doch seitdem sind die Werte in den Befragungen signifikant gefallen. Alle anderen Alterskohorten dagegen wurden im gleichen Zeitraum glücklicher.
Das mag teilweise mit der Pandemie zusammenhängen, aber der Trend zeichnet sich hierzulande schon länger ab und er dauert an. Solche Umfragen sind natürlich schwer zu interpretieren, aber angesichts dieser Ergebnisse kann man schon sagen, dass etwas grundlegend schief läuft, im Umgang der Gesellschaft mit jungen Menschen. Das ist nicht nur ein diffuses Bauchgefühl, dass die Lebensqualität für Junge abnimmt, während die Zukunftsängste steigen.

Heißt das, wenn Bibi und seine rechtsextremen Freunde die Demokratie in Israel erfolgreich abgeschafft haben, dann verdient das Land auch keine westliche Unterstützung mehr? Das wäre doch die logische Schlussfolgerung. Seltsamerweise wird eine solche Warnung aber nie klar ausgesprochen von dejenigen, die mit "Israel ist die einzige Demokratie im nahen Osten" argumentieren.
For now reddit seems fine (even though I feel a noticable deterioration of multiple communities). Though the important change is that alternatives have established themselves. Lemmy might not be big right now but from now on reddit has to be extra careful not to upset redditors. Every new step they take that worsens the experience will drive a new wave of users away from their site and now more of them will find communities elsewhere that have been established during the first exodus this year.
At the same time I'm unfortunately quite certain that the enshittification of reddit will continue as investors demand higher profits. So we will see more waves of redditors leaving. Such a migration in waves could also be observed with Twitter, after every new step that Elon took to ruin the site.

Can we please stop this eternal debate about the EU becoming a state? I feel like it's besides the point and only evokes harmful reflexes on all sides. The question should be how to streamline and organize decision making. Who decides on which level about what. As Draghi points out correctly, certain stategic decisions should be made at an EU level. That would be more efficient, more impactful and help Europeans as a whole but it's not really about "turning the EU into a country". I get that "the sovereign nation state" has been the single one all-encompassing, all-powerful entity at the heart of political thinking since at least the 17th century but I just feel like it's no longer necessarily a helpful frame of reference for many developments in the 21st century.
This doesn't look like a car nor a truck it's a combat vehicle. Seriously, who's impressed by Elon's shooting and steel ball demonstrations? In what kind of failed state do these Tesla customers live? With a tank hull for a frame and sharp edges all around this looks like a serious safety hazard for passengers and especially pedestrians outside the car.

I think I could have stomached the API changes and the end for Apollo/RIF. But the AMA and the reaction to the protests made me so incredibly upset and revealed how reddit gives absolutely zero fucks about its users and community. Huffman despises them. With this mindset there's no other way but downhill for reddit.

Meine Hauptmotivation dieses Mal für Volt abzustimmen, war vor allem hoffentlich dabei zu helfen, eine zweite wählbare Alternative aufzubauen. Eigentlich habe ich mir vor jeder Wahl die Programme der verschiedenen Parteien angeschaut und für mich abgewogen. Zuletzt war bei mir aber der Eindruck gewachsen, dass von den im Bundestag vertretenen Parteien nur noch die Grünen wählbar sind.
Der Rest nimmt entweder den Klimawandel nicht erst oder die Bedrohung durch Putin und positiven Gestaltungswillen oder Zukunftsvisionen sehe ich derzeit leider auch nur noch bei den Grünen. Ich hoffe, dass Volt sich als echte liberale Partei etablieren kann (anders als unsere derzeitige "liberale" Klingelpartei für die oberen 1% mit liberalem Anstrich, weil man ja trotzdem über die 5% Hürde kommen muss).
