Yeah it's more likely to be in relation to keeping Max. The team is toast without him, they'll very likely be a backmarker with their current car.

Exactly my reaction. I know things were a bit turbulent last year, but I wasn't expecting this right now!

I'm not convinced. There's probably a chunk of people who don't drive because they kept showing that they weren't safe enough to drive by failing their test. If the aim is to reduce the barrier to entry for driving because tests are expensive (they're £62 in the UK, really not that expensive) then those costs will only be countered by way higher insurance premiums as there will be more drivers who can just jump in a car and drive on their own and crash. Also as a driver and pedestrian, I really don't want to be on the same road as those people.

It's still just slowly trickling down. Any day now.

so the driving test proves nothing

The driving test proves you can competently drive to a safe standard. I agree that you learn more through experience, but first you need to be able to drive to a particular standard before being allowed to drive on your own.

What's the alternative if there's no test? You just allow anyone who reaches the driving age to get in a car and drive on their own?

That sounds like a great evening! Did your neighbours enjoy it too? :D

It was fine, very unremarkable. Really struggling to think of anything of note that happened!

Watched the F1 live on Sunday as I cooked a curry which was nice, I never watch it live these days as it's impossible with the kids, and I no longer have a way to watch it live (channel 4 broadcast the British GP live).

Where are you where it's so hot? It's been pretty cool up here in the north west.

The sound of doing absolutely nothing sounds bliss!

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 3 points 1 month ago

We're good at heating, but yeah not great at cooling. Thing it it's only really an issue for maybe 4 or 5 weeks in a year in total. So far.

No. But my wife does and doesn't reset the display so it'll just show 3 rather than the time.

First time I've seen Piastri really flustered, pressure's starting to mount!

This request was obviously in a bit of a red mist moment, realising that he'd just thrown away the win. Drivers usually say dumb shit while emotional driving around at 200mph.

I think I'm one of those that blocked the bot a long time ago as it would dominate the new feed. I don't think it adds any value, happy to defed from it.

Lancashire Wildlife Trust has started a new research initiative that will change how landscapes are managed.

This project, a collaboration with the University of Essex, focuses on a fresh approach throughout the North West and beyond.

Lucy O’Reilly, the trust's conservation grazing officer, is leading the study.

She is enhancing it with 30 NoFence collars borrowed from the University of Essex.
